The Pomerania Development Agency and the Gdańsk Economic Development Agency invite you to a free seminar “Expansion of Polish companies to the USA – legal and business aspects”. The seminar is addressed to Polish companies interested in developing their business on the American market and to start-ups. The meeting will be hosted by Ms. Justyna Regan, Polish legal counsel and American attorney at Miller Canfield, Paddock and Stone (“Miller Canfield”). The meeting will take place on Monday 13 June 2016. at 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the headquarters of the Pomerania Development Agency in Olivia Business Centre, Al. Grunwaldzka 472 D in Gdansk, in the Olivia Six building, 12th floor.
The program of the seminar m.in. legal and business aspects of operating in the U.S. market, including export of goods, export of intellectual property, establishing cooperation with an agent and distributor, setting up a subsidiary, practical considerations for expanding operations to the United States, tax implications of expansion, models of obtaining financing for start-ups, the “Select USA” program and its assumptions.

“Funding opportunities for SMEs in the Horizon 2020 program”, free training, On June 24, the Regional Contact Point for EU Framework Programs at the Gdańsk University of Technology, the Regional Center of the Enterprise Europe Network at the “Free Enterprise” Association and the Pomerania Development Agency invite you to a free training course “Financing opportunities for SMEs in the Horizon 2020 program” on June 24 .
The main objective of the meeting is to present the rules of participation in the Horizon 2020 program and to present preferential competitions for SMEs in Horizon 2020. Participants will learn how to prepare a good business plan and learn about the experience of a company that has acquired a project under the Horizon 2020 program. The training will be conducted by experts from the National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU, the Regional Centre of the Enterprise Europe Network at the “Free Entrepreneurship” Association and a representative of PolTREG Sp. Ltd.

Saturday’s family festival on the occasion of Children’s Day brought many attractions and positive impressions for the youngest residents of Oliwa and other districts of Gdańsk, as well as the children of Olivia Business Centre Residents. In beautiful weather, for several hours, with a smile on their faces, the children learned new skills, gained knowledge in the field of chemistry and technology, and took part in sports competitions. See in the photos below what the third Children’s Day at Olivia Business Centre looked like.
Traditionally, the inflatable playground aroused great emotions among children. This time, two fairy-tale slides and a saloon were prepared.
On stage, the children were watching the fairy-tale performance of the Klapa Theatre in suspense. In addition to an interesting story, they were able to get to know m.in. rules of safe movement at pedestrian crossings.
The undisputed hit of Saturday’s mini playback show were songs from “Frozen”.
Young lovers of board games and Peppa Pig could play a special version of the popular Monopoly game. This time, it was not the pawns who moved on the big board, but the children themselves.
Between games, the youngest could eat healthy and tasty snacks prepared by the Lobster restaurant, located in the Olivia Business Centre. Thirst could be quenched with delicious lemonade and water.

A family picnic organised on Saturday to celebrate the Children’s Day offered lots of attractions and great excitement to the youngest residents of the Oliwa district and other districts of Gdańsk, as well as the children of the Olivia Business Centre Residents.
Enjoying wonderful weather, the children – smiling from ear to ear – spent several hours on learning new skills and abilities, gaining knowledge in the scope of chemistry and technology and taking part in sports competitions.

The children watched the performance given by the Klapa Theatre with profound attention. Apart from an interesting story based on a fairy tale, the children could also learn about the safety principles for pedestrians and many other interesting things.
Indisputably, the main attraction of the mini playback show included the songs from “Frozen”.
Young enthusiasts of board games and of Peppa Pig could play a special version of Monopoly. This time, the board was so huge that the role of the pieces was taken over by the children.
In the time between different games and activities, the children were offered healthy and delicious snacks prepared by the Lobster Restaurant located at the Olivia Business Centre. As the remedy for thirst, the children were served refreshing lemonade and water.

On Thursday, July 7 at 6 p.m. in Olivia Sky Club (Olivia Tower, 12th floor), the closing ceremony of the first edition of the Crossing the Borders project will take place. During the final gala, the effects of the metamorphosis of the project participants and its partners, mentors and originator will be presented. There will be a panel discussion with the participation of the media and international guests on the subject of crossing borders in many dimensions and the role of intercultural competence in today’s global market.
The project started on May 12, 2016. The aim of the initiative was to support the competences of ambitious people who want to develop their careers abroad in a multidirectional way. The main activity carried out as part of the Crossing the Borders project was free support in the psychological, image and functional fields, enabling a thorough metamorphosis, thanks to which the participants of the program were prepared to take up the challenges of taking up a job abroad.
During the finale of the first edition of the Crossing the Borders project, we will meet mentors and participants of the program, see their metamorphoses and announce the ambassador of Cross the Borders. We will also learn about tools and products that enable learning 21st century competences and we will hear speeches by special guests. The special guests of the event are: Piotr Bucki (trainer and founder of the academy promoting the competences of the future) and the theatre actress Vilde Valldal Johannessen, who will share with the participants their personal perspectives on crossing borders.
Olivia Star is becoming a new business symbol of the Tri-City and a natural complement to Olivia Business Centre, one of the most interesting mixed-use investments in Poland.
From the top floor of Olivia Star, over 150 meters above the ground, you will be able to admire the most interesting panorama in Poland: the Bay of Gdansk, Gdansk, the cliffs of Gdynia, the ports of Gdynia and Gdansk, the pier in Sopot and the Hel Peninsula, as well as the entire tree-lined Tri-City Landscape Park. For this reason, a public observation deck and a conference center will be built on the top floors of the building. They will be accessed by two separate elevators, which will not stop on the office floors.
The building will be connected with a glazed winter garden, which will be built on an internal patio with greenery and fountains. The winter garden was designed as a lively place full of educational and artistic events. This year-round, beautiful space with a great atmosphere will be made available to the local community.
– We want Olivia Star to become a new symbol and pride of Gdańsk, the Tri-City and the entire Pomerania. Olivia Business Centre is the business and conference heart of the entire metropolis. The excellent location in Oliwa, which is the geographical centre of our agglomeration, combines the potential of Gdańsk and Gdynia. The shape of the building will refer to the architecture of the neighbouring building – the Olivia Hall. It was here that the first congress of Solidarity took place. Here the word “Community” was conjugated, in many languages in the message to the peoples of Europe. It was here that the first Festival of True Song in Eastern Europe was held. By referring to the architecture of the Olivia Hall, we want to say that although we are younger and stronger – after all, Olivia Star is a high-rise building – we continue the work of our Fathers and Grandfathers. We are like an intergenerational relay race that our fathers started, and soon we will pass the baton to the next generations – said Maciej Grabski, President of Olivia Business Centre, during his speech opening the ceremony of laying the cornerstone.

Olivia Star will be the tallest building in northern Poland. The top point of the façade of this unique skyscraper will be at a height of 156 meters, and including the spires, the building will reach 180 meters. The Olivia Star building will be erected between the Olivia Four and Olivia Six office buildings, thus closing the ring around the internal public patio with greenery and fountains. Olivia Star will expand office space for rent in Olivia Business Centre from 73 thousand sqm. sq.m. to almost 120 thousand. sq.m. A 3-storey underground car park will be built under the skyscraper. The first tenants are scheduled to move in in the spring of 2017.
“Olivia Star will be the most modern high-rise building in Poland. It will be one of 3 buildings in Poland with a triple-glazed all-glass façade (the first one was Olivia Six), and what is even more important, there will be specially designed natural ventilation systems on all office floors, which will make the comfort of work in Olivia Star incomparably greater than in all currently built skyscrapers. This will be possible thanks to an innovative façade that we have designed and tested ourselves in Germany. Similar buildings are being built in Warsaw, but none of them has such a solution. Tilting parts of the façade will allow you to ventilate each room individually with fresh air. The building has also been tested in terms of acoustics and, of course, it will be certified in the ecological BREEAM system at the Excellent level. Olivia Star is already commercialized in approx. 30% – said Maciej Kotarski, Leasing Director at Olivia Business Centre.
The Olivia Star skyscraper will further increase the attractiveness and offer of the young business district at al. Grunwaldzka in Gdansk. The business “city”, which has been created in this place for several years, is unparalleled in other cities in Poland. Next to each other, there is an extremely modern Oliwa Campus of the University of Gdańsk, multifunctional office buildings and incubators for innovative ventures. From the very beginning, one of the main assumptions of Olivia Business Centre was multifunctionality. The Olivia Business Centre team takes care of the work-life balance of all people working in the centre: business, educational, cultural and sports events are regularly held here.
