Meet the winners of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget!

The fifth edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget is behind us. What is this budget? It is a programme initiated by the Olivia Centre, which supports social initiatives of the inhabitants of Oliwa and Przymorze Małe. This year, the pool of funds allocated for co-financed projects of the fifth edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget amounted to PLN 18,000, and we have already supported projects for almost PLN 100,000 in total. The award ceremony took place on October 13 during the event “Closing the Season Classically and Olivia Festival 2024”.

This year, the jury of the competition consisted of:

  • Andrzej Stelmasiewicz – Oliwa activist and social activist, Founder of the Gdańsk Community Foundation and co-founder of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget
  • Małgorzata Skwira – Principal of Primary School 35
  • Tomasz Strug – Chairman of the Oliwa District Council
  • Grzegorz Kidybiński – Member of the Management Board of Olivia Centre

Meet the winning projects!

Park ON Association – “Ceramic Adventure Neighbors”

The aim of the project is to activate seniors and adults – especially people with Parkinson’s disease – and to enrich the offer of creative leisure by organizing as many as 26 one-and-a-half-hour ceramic classes. The classes will be an opportunity to create handicrafts, and additionally exercises in fine motor skills. Joint workshops are an excuse to leave the house, meet people with similar experiences of the disease and a chance for mutual support.

Łukasz Heldt and the neighborhood community at 56, 58 and 60 Piastowska Street – “Farewell to Summer”

A neighbourhood project aimed at integrating residents while having fun together in the open air, at the book and toy market and having refreshments together.

Gdańsk Sports Academy Olivia Foundation – “Oliwa Floorball Tournament for school children”

The aim of the project is to play floorball tournaments for children of primary schools in Oliwa and Przymorze Mały, to popularize floorball as a form of movement, to promote active leisure and integration of the local community. The tournament takes place in the sports hall. The organizers take care of the appropriate setting, high-level judging and attractive prizes for the winners.

Michał Ślubowski Role-playing game “Abbot Hacki’s Cipher”

The aim of the project is to organize a role-playing field game “Abbot Hacki’s Cipher”, which aims to popularize the history of Oliwa through an attractive form of a role-playing game for all people interested in the history of Oliwa and exploration of the district through the game. Each participant will receive an envelope with a set of riddles, ciphers, fragments of old maps, postcards and prepared letters.

– Among many initiatives that are implemented with the support of Olivia, it is the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget that gives us the greatest satisfaction – says Bogusław Wieczorek, the representative of the management board of Olivia Centre. – The very fact that we have been consistently supporting neighbourhood initiatives for five years now and that we have received positive feedback from residents and organisers of co-financed projects is of great importance to us, as we can see the real effects of our activities. Every year, we try to make these projects diverse, so that there is an opportunity to support different needs of residents, and we strongly encourage all interested parties to follow the next announcements about the launch of the next edition and submit their own projects, as we will certainly continue this project in the coming years.

LeadWell. Conference for Team Leaders on November 7!

Business centers are most often associated with big business, daily rush and quarterly, semi-annual and annual plans. Centers are also associated with professionals who must be able to find themselves perfectly in these realities and achieve their goals. None other than team leaders are responsible for the company’s results, so they are the ones who have the greatest pressure: superiors on the one hand, and subordinates on the other, who also constitute a very diverse environment, and a manager should have the competence to manage such diverse groups of employees.

Team leaders are the most important group in any organization. They create its culture, it depends on them how those who actually perform tasks work and how they feel. According to recent research – a relationship with a boss is more important for mental health than a relationship with friends!

Still, many studies related to mental health and workplace sentiment focus on employees and much less on managers. The available data shows that being a boss is significantly physically exhausting and mentally taxing. Managing people is often overwhelming and can be a source of great stress. The research also shows that as many as 30% of people quit their jobs within 3 months of being promoted.

Meanwhile, happy leaders are a prerequisite for building teams consisting of happy subordinates. This means only one thing – leaders need and should be given time, it is worth developing, training and making them aware. Business centers, being a kind of hubs, gathering not only employees, but also numerous managerial staff, are an excellent environment for the exchange of experiences, skills and cooperation for the development of both professional groups. Just as employees share their insights, experiences, and ideas on how to deal with the realities of working in corporations on Internet forums or trainings, managers can also think about cooperation and exchange knowledge in the field of managing teams of employees. However, this happens much less often than in the case of employees.

“Like many areas of life, team management has undergone a major transformation in recent years ,” emphasizes Remigiusz Wojciechowski, Enterprise Support Solutions Leader at Bayer GBS. Founder of Bayer GBS Gdańsk. – This is due to the changes in the work model from strictly office to hybrid, as well as in connection with the entry of a new generation into the labor market – Genration Z, which has a fundamentally different approach to work than previous generations. These are challenges that managers must be able to meet, and they should also be accompanied by the volatility of the economic situation, as well as new challenges that we have not faced before, such as the greater use of artificial intelligence at work. These challenges require managers to constantly adapt their tasks to the changing reality and training to help develop new competences. In my opinion, it is very important to base your own development on interesting examples and experiences of other managers, also during workshops, where you have the opportunity to work side by side with leaders facing similar challenges.

Olivia Centre Gdańsk is the largest and most modern business centre in Poland. Its area is currently 175 thousand m.kw, and ultimately it will significantly exceed 200 thousand m.kw. Olivia’s largest residents are Amazon, Bayer, Capgemini, Energa, EPAM, Fujifilm, Lyreco, Medicover, Nike, Nordea, PwC, Ricoh, Sii, thyssenkrupp, which is why it is a unique community of practitioners who can cooperate for self-development and mutual competence support. It was only a matter of time until such a forum for the exchange of knowledge was created in Gdańsk.

– With this in mind, the idea of a new conference called LEADWELL, prepared by the O4 coworking team with Olivia Centre, was created – says Martyna Czarnobaj-Borowska, from the O4 Coworking team. – On the wave of the ubiquitous discussion about well-being, we decided to move away from the recurring free fruit, benefits or integration trips and focus on what is really important. On leaders and leadershiptags.

Olivia Centre is also the seat of the organizer of InfoShare and Infoshare Academy: Both of our projects give us access to a huge resource of knowledge about the current situation of managers, the challenges they have to face, as well as the changes that are sweeping through the industry – says Grzegorz Borowski, co-founder of InfoShare. Thanks to this, I am aware of the unique moment in which we all find ourselves and I am glad that a forum for the exchange of experiences between representatives of different environments and the possibility of cooperation is being created. I believe that such exchange and activity will allow each participant to build new competences and develop interesting methods of dealing with current challenges .

The project is an opportunity to use the knowledge of many practitioners and an opportunity to exchange experiences in the form of joint workshops. Perhaps it will also be a hint on how to build a community in the business center, not only at the level of employees, but also of the management staff, who benefit from being present in this or that facility. Such initiatives can also benefit employees, whose supervisors will gain new competences and will be more aware of market transformations and their related needs in the field of personal development.

Olivia residents have a whopping 33% discount on tickets! You can ask for a discount code here: eventowniao4@oliviacentre.com

The conference will take place on November 7, and all the details can be found on the leadwell.pl website

Pinktober 2024! Take care of yourself. Take care of your health.

For years, October has been recognized worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At this special time, Olivia also takes up topics related to breast cancer prevention.

Remember to self-examine your breasts

We encourage you, as every year, Dear Ladies, to self-examine your breasts. See how to properly perform the test. And remember that regular examination allows you to detect cancerous changes at an early stage and, consequently, apply effective treatment. The educational film was prepared by the Pink Butterfly Association, a non-profit organization supporting patients treated at the Breast Disease Center of the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk. It was established in November 2019 by the medical staff, patients and friends of the Center. The Association’s mission is to help people suffering from cancer, including breast diseases, at all stages of the disease (from diagnosis, through treatment and convalescence).

Remember about breast ultrasound

Breast ultrasound should be a permanent part of every woman’s calendar of preventive examinations. It is assumed that women over 30 should undergo a prophylactic breast ultrasound at least once every two years, and preferably once a year. In women from risk groups (with a family history of breast cancer, diagnosed with genetic mutations that increase the risk of developing the disease, with previous precancerous lesions), it is recommended to undergo more frequent examinations – two or three times a year.

Mammogram

Mammography is one of the preventive tests performed as part of breast cancer prevention as a screening test. It makes it possible to detect even very small cancerous lesions long before they become palpable. It is recommended for women over 40 years of age. It should be performed regularly, every 2 years, or as directed by your doctor.

Do you know about the breast cancer prevention program: mammography?

The programme is aimed at women aged 45-74. You can do a mammography test in stationary clinics or in a mobile vehicle that travels to the most remote corners of Polish.

Check where to have a mammogram in person (go to “Prevention programs” and select “Breast cancer prevention” from the list).

Check when the mobile vehicle will arrive in your town.

About mammography.

See: NFZ Academy | Practical calendar of preventive examinations

What do you know about biopsy?

Breast biopsy (fine-needle/core needle) is an examination that allows for precise breast diagnosis. Thanks to the ultrasound examination, the doctor locates the lesion and inserts a needle into it through the skin, which he uses to take a section of tissue from the center of the tumor, needed for further examination. The biopsy is not painful – it is performed under local anaesthesia and the woman does not require hospitalisation afterwards. More about the study…

Vacuum assisted core needle biopsy (VAB) is performed on an outpatient basis, i.e. in the treatment room, and no stay in the hospital operating room is necessary. The device consists of a disposable biopsy needle and a device that controls the biopsy process (vacuum assists). A needle is actually a complex disposable device that consists of a rotating blade connected to a container for histopathological material. More on this topic…

Medical facilities

Breast Disease Clinic of the University Clinical Center

The Breast Disease Clinic is intended for patients who have detected a change in their breasts and need advice or have previously been diagnosed with a benign change in the breast that requires regular check-ups. The clinic also accepts healthy patients who want to check their breasts and patients who believe that they may be genetically predisposed to breast cancer. During the first visit, the doctor conducts a detailed interview and then carefully examines the breasts and armpits.

The center is accredited by the Breast Cancer Unit issued by SIS (Senologic International Society). Patients who come under the care of the center are covered by comprehensive and quick diagnostics and coordinated treatment. This means that they are helped in one place by experienced doctors: oncological surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, radiotherapists, pathologists, nurses and technicians. During therapy, you can also use the help of physiotherapists and psychological care. Thanks to this, patients do not have to look for help in several different places. In addition, the treatment is supervised by a coordinator. He or she acts as a guide for the sick person, guiding them through the various stages of therapy. Treatment is tailored to the requirements of the individual patient.

Did you know?

  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide (25%) and the leading cause of death (14%), and breast cancer patients account for 36% of women living with cancer. It is estimated that nearly 1.7 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and more than 500,000 die from it. It is a heterogeneous disease in which we distinguish different subtypes.
  • The highest incidence of breast cancer is recorded in industrialized countries (Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain). The lowest incidence is in countries in Africa and Southeast Asia. Geographic region is a factor that significantly modifies the risk of breast cancer.
  • In Poland, breast cancer has become one of the biggest threats to premature mortality of women in the last century. Breast cancer also occurs in men, although very rarely. It is estimated that one in the number of cases of breast cancer is breast cancer in men.
  • The risk factors for the development of the disease are complex, but the key factors seem to be those related to the hormonal status of the woman (reproductive factors, age of puberty and menopause, use of hormonal preparations). The incidence of breast cancer increases with age. Cancer is rare among women under 45 years of age, and the majority of cases occur in women over 50 years of age (80% of patients in Poland).
  • A factor that significantly increases the risk of developing breast cancer is the presence of a mutation in the BRCA1 gene or the BRCA2 gene. It is estimated that 4-8% of breast cancers may be the result of inherited mutations, the remaining cases are the result of sporadic mutations in somatic cells.
  • Diagnosis and early detection (secondary prophylaxis) based on regular mammography examinations (screening) are of decisive importance in the context of prevention and prevention of the development of advanced breast cancer.

Olivia Home is implementing a new, prestigious investment in Sopot

The investor Olivia Home, associated with Olivia Centre, has started the construction and pre-sale of an intimate apartment investment in Sopot. Leśna Sopot is a premium segment apartment, forming a complex of two villa buildings, located in a quiet part of the resort.

Leśna offers exclusive apartments located in a picturesque, green part of Sopot, a 15-minute walk from the beach.
The excellent location of the investment guarantees future residents a wide range of opportunities for active recreation – both in the Tri-City Landscape Park and by the sea.
The excellent communication of the apartments allows efficient access to the attractions of the entire Tri-City.
Surrounded by magnificent greenery, the buildings of Leśna Sopot will be built in a secluded location, offering residents the cozy atmosphere of a residential district.
Easy and quick access to Aleja Niepodległości, the main artery of the resort, provides simple and fast communication with the city center, Gdynia and Gdańsk.

Only 18 apartments are planned as part of the investment, located in two four-storey buildings.
The offer includes spacious, four-room apartments with an area of up to 107 m² and two- and three-room apartments, which can be combined into larger, five-room apartments.
The interiors have extensive glazing, allowing a large amount of natural light to pass through.
A carefully thought-out layout of the rooms guarantees optimal living comfort.
In addition, each apartment will be equipped with a spacious garden or balcony with a picturesque view of the rich greenery of the Tri-City Landscape Park.
Some of the apartments on the top floor will also provide views of the Bay of Gdańsk.

The architecture of the Leśna Sopot buildings, designed with the use of noble materials, harmoniously combines aesthetics, functionality and comfort. emphasizes Marcin Karczewski, architect from the K&M Design studio responsible for the design of the buildings. It is a place where residents will be able to enjoy the beauty of nature and the elegance of Sopot architecture in a modern edition.
Sopot Leśna is a project that intertwines modernity and tradition through the use of elements such as mansard roofs or glazed bay windows with views of the greenery of Sopot’s forests and the villa surroundings.

Spacious, living rooms combined with kitchenettes can reach an area of up to 42 m², and panoramic glazing will ensure a harmonious relationship with nature.
The investment is being built with full respect for the surrounding old trees, which will allow residents to enjoy the closeness of nature from the very first moments.
The apartments will be distinguished by corner, mullionless windows with stepped glass, which will further emphasize the unique atmosphere of the interiors.
All balconies will be equipped with glazed balustrades, and in the autumn and spring period, extended use of some of them will be made possible by glass construction systems, creating winter gardens with an area of up to 13 m².

The garden designs belonging to the apartments located on the ground floor are characterized by above-standard areas from 108 to over 172 m².
The green patio, which will be located between the buildings, will be enriched by dense plantings of shrubs and trees, as well as original elements of small architecture.
The whole will be complemented by artistic details – mirrors, sculptures and water elements, which will create a unique common space, reminiscent of an enchanted garden.

Mirrored panes at the water basin will optically increase the volume of greenery, introducing a visual illusion, and thus creating a truly magical cornerof the park.
– says Małgorzata Sobótka, architect and owner of Studio Krajobraz, responsible for the concept of landscape architecture.

The architecture of the buildings and the standard of finishing of the common areas are a consistent combination of comfort and subtle elegance.
Ceramic tiles will be used on the roofs.
The façade will feature natural finishing elements – wooden boards of various sizes and grooves, thermally modified, perfectly fitting into the forest surroundings of the Tri-City Landscape Park.

Sopot obliges, so when implementing this project, we focused on a harmonious combination of modern architecture with classic elements, while maintaining respect for tradition – says Ewa Nowicka, Sales Director, Member of the Management Board of Olivia Home.

Common areas, such as entrance areas, corridors and staircases, will be finished with high-quality natural materials, guaranteeing durability and comfort of use.
Dark brown wood panels, broken with steel accents, designer lighting, lounge areas and artisanal details such as metal railings and wooden handrails create an elegant and modern space.

The idea behind the design of the common areas was to refer to the details of the interiors of Sopot tenement houses and to implement them through the means of contemporary design – emphasizes Anna Branicka, lead architect of the Design Anatomy design team, responsible for the interior design of the Leśna Sopot apartments. We have combined the classic with the modern, focusing on detail.
The key motif is a wooden totem in the central part of the staircase, which is a contemporary interpretation of historical forms.
Ceramic accents in the balustrades and handrails subtly blend in with the cladding of the door portals made of glazed tiles.
We decided on hybrid floors with a layer of wood, which are durable, elegant and pleasant to look at.
Delicate slats embedded in wooden cladding and steel finishes of the elevator portals have been designed individually in a unique color and form.
Just like the lighting made of ledonic light hoses, inspired by classic chandeliers.
This project is a story about the search for a relationship with the unique context of the place –
adds Anna Branicka.

Leśna Sopot is the second residential project of the developer Olivia Home.
The first investment called Platynowa Park, located in the south of Gdańsk, was completed at the end of 2023.
Another investment in Gdańsk will go on sale later this year.
Olivia Home’s projects are carried out by a team of professionals from the residential and commercial market as well as PRS, whose competences and knowledge have also been built during the construction of the most structurally and technologically advanced commercial buildings – Olivia Centre in Gdańsk, the largest business and service centre in Poland.
This is where m.in have their headquarters.
Amazon, Bayer, Deloitte, Nike and PwC.

In the space of Olivia Centre there is a year-round Olivia Garden, filled with 4 thousand plants, the highest of which reach several meters in height.
In addition, there are numerous restaurants and service outlets here.
In the tallest building – Olivia Star, on the
On the 32nd floor, there is a floor with an observation deck, from where you can admire the panorama of the entire Tri-City. On The 33rd floor houses two prestigious restaurants: Arco and Treinta y Tres, run by Paco Pérez, one of the most outstanding chefs in the world.
In this year’s Michelin guide, the Arco restaurant won the first star in Pomerania, and Treinta y Tres received the Bib Gourmand distinction.

Viterra – the top floor of Olivia Prime welcomed a new tenant

Private roof terrace, office in the spirit of re-use and zero waste.
The design for a company from the food industry was prepared by a team of architects Design Anatomy, and its basis is care for environmental responsibility and ecology of the workplace.

Viterra is a global market leader in cereals, oilseeds, legumes, sugar, rice, cotton, vegetable oils and biodiesel.
The company operates in 35 countries and operates in the most important global markets.
The company handles 1.5 million tons of goods annually in ports, exports 2 million tons by land, and in Poland it can already boast of ten of its own warehouse locations and elevators, allowing it to store 350,000 tons. tons and its own production of vegetable oils. Viterra has occupied a representative office on the top floor of Olivia’s newest building – Olivia Prime with an area of nearly 1500 m.kw. When designing the office for Viterra, we decided to refer to the industry in which they specialize and use the colors of fields visible from a bird’s eye view, cereals in warm shades of yellow, gold and green grasses, complementing them with accents in cobalt and dark green – Monika Loewnau-Solis, project manager and architect from Design Anatomy, describes the project.

Viterra’s environmental awareness is manifested not only in the use of recycled finishing materials.
The furniture used in the office is part of the company’s re-use policy.
Viterra decided to reuse desks that had been used for a short period of time in another company.
These are high-class ergonomic electric desks that allow you to change your working position from sitting to standing.
This is especially important for employees of the sales department, who often spend many hours on strenuous, energy-intensive work, as well as in accounting and the legal department.

The functional layout of the office is very clearly divided into common areas and work zones.
The heart is the reception area, a place for integration and interaction of the entire company team.
Thanks to the stylistic treatments used, the variety of forms and materials, it welcomes you with exceptional energy from the entrance.
Geometric forms of acoustic panels on the ceilings, wall finishes in natural sepia and cork envelop the space, dampening excessive noise.
Colourful, sunny and bright armchairs, poufs and seats on the walls encourage meetings and conversations.
Their location provides a view of the vast forest of the Tri-City Landscape Park, which allows you to relax during the working day.
In the immediate vicinity of the reception desk, telephone booths and conference rooms have been designed.
All of them have been finished with acoustic cladding, and there are wooden slats on the ceilings.
Their interiors are dominated by saturated colors taken from nature, which are supposed to stimulate energy during meetings taking place in them.

Viterra’s employees have two enclosed kitchens at their disposal, in which the transitions from the kitchen areas to the dining areas have been clearly emphasized by the use of different materials in each part of the room.
In the kitchen area, there are vinyl tiles in the color of natural wood on the floor, and geometric patterns in the dining room.
These accents were also reproduced on the ceilings of both parts, emphasizing their different functions.
Both kitchens have been complemented with contrasting accents in accordance with the arrangement concept defined for the entire office.

To separate individual zones of the office, we decided to use openwork walls with geometric patterns – says Monika Loewnau-Solis. In this way, we defined the design of the entire office, but also gained an additional function – we ensured the intimacy and coziness of the space, and additionally limited the spread of sounds between the usually noisy, energetic part of the open space and the intimate and quiet work zone for lawyers and accounting.

The goal we set was to adapt the office to the current trends – hybrid work, enabling employees to fully return to stationary work in the future – says Monika Loewnau-Solis. At the same time, the client was very keen on the comfort of the staff and the appropriate distribution of teams with different work characteristics.
We decided to divide the office into a part intended for focused work and an active, loud cooperation zone, where there is energy, joint work and cooperation of entire teams of the company.

Viterra’s office also includes a terrace with an area of 180 m.kw, which is located on the 15th floor of Olivia Prime. It is the highest terrace with a view not only of the forest surrounding Olivia, but also of the Bay of Gdańsk and the most interesting icons of the Gdańsk landscape – Polsat Arena, shipyard cranes and the silhouette of St. Mary’s Church. This space is still waiting to be developed, but chill out zones, lounge beds and greenery are being prepared, allowing you to rest during the working day.
