Energa, a member of the ORLEN Group, stays longer at Olivia Centre in Gdańsk

Energa has once again extended its lease in the buildings of the largest business centre in Poland, which is Olivia Centre in Gdańsk. The company occupies over 17,000 sqm. office space in three connected buildings and is one of Olivia’s largest residents. Energa was represented in the negotiations by Cushman & Wakefield. The energy company has had its headquarters in Olivia Centre continuously since 2012.

We are very happy that one of our most important business partners has once again placed their trust in us. The extension of the contract with Energa is proof that our residents appreciate the quality of the buildings, the way they are managed and the way they build the local olive community. I am proud that from the very beginning of Olivia Centre’s existence, I have been able to observe the development of Energa Group companies in our centre. It is a great joy and satisfaction for mesays Aleksandra Majdańczuk, Deputy Director in the leasing department of Olivia Centre.

Olivia Centre employs nearly a thousand people employed by ORLEN Group companies. It’s m.in. Energa SA, Energa Obrót SA, Energa Informatyka i Technologie Sp. z o.o., Orlen Corporate Services Center Sp. z o.o., Enspirion Sp. z o.o., Orlen Administration Sp. z o.o., Orlen Eko Sp. z o.o., or Energa Logistyka Sp. Ltd.

Ensuring the safety and stability of employees’ operations is of key importance to ORLEN Group companies, including Energa. At the same time, the best possible working conditions for teams are also important. We have chosen a place which, in our opinion, as well as in the opinion of the advisors with whom we cooperated during the process of market analysis, negotiations and decision-making, optimally meets the needs of our organization,” says Lucjan Brudzyński, Director of the Corporate Management Department at Energa. The process of analysing the real estate market covered many aspects aimed at ensuring the most favourable conditions for the employees of the Energa Group companies. We focused on a broad analysis in terms of economics, quality, technology and ESG. The process was multi-stage and required the involvement of many peoplesays Tomasz Kreft, Head of the Property Management and Commercialization Services Team at Orlen Administration sp. z o.o., which carried out the process for Energa from the ORLEN Group.

Olivia Centre is highly rated as a place to work and locate offices. NWe have recently been awarded the highest Well Health & Safety certification for the second time in the world, so we can officially say that we are the safest place to work in global rankings where employee well-being is a priority. This is one of our reasons to be proud. The certifiers appreciated the daily value of several restaurants, a nursery, a kindergarten and schools, medical and sports centers, as well as a winter garden with tropical greenery and the top floors of Olivia Star, available to Residents free of charge, with spaces for work, meetings, conferences, and even a playground for children. All this is possible thanks to the scale – Olivia Centre is the largest office centre in Polandsays Maciej Kotarski, Director at Olivia Centre.

After almost 12 years of presence in Olivia Centre, Energa, a member of the ORLEN Group, was faced with an important choice of staying and further development in its current location or moving to a new space. However, Olivia Centre rose to the occasion and proposed the best solutions to keep the Energa Group among its tenants. The entire proceedings were successfully conducted and successfully concluded to the satisfaction of all parties. Due to the scale of the transaction and the variety of challenges, this was an extremely complex task and required the involvement of many different specializations, including analytics and engineering, on our side. A part of the procedure was, for example, defining strictly technical tasks related to the modernization of the building and arranging a schedule of works to be performed by the Landlord,” says Adam Schroeder, Regional Director at Cushman & Wakefield.

In the buildings leased by Energa, a rearrangement is planned, allowing to adjust the space to the newly defined by Energa needs in terms of office layout and equipment. It is very important to us that the office is best suited to the needs of the various teams and companies of the ORLEN Group, of which Energa is a part, which is why we intend to engage many of our experts to achieve this goal. The teams of both parties have prepared a multi-stage work plan, which will be implemented in the coming years in such a way as to maintain the highest standard of offices, but also not to interfere with employees in their daily worksays Aleksandra Majdańczuk, Deputy Director in the leasing department of Olivia Centre.

Pinktober. Don’t forget about breast self-examination!

October has been recognized around the world as Breast Cancer Awareness Month for many years. In this special period, we take up topics related to the prevention, diagnostics and modern treatment of breast cancer. On the occasion of Pink October, we also promote cancer prevention and vigilance. We also encourage you to self-examine your breasts. See how to perform the test correctly. And remember that regular examination allows you to detect cancerous changes at an early stage and, as a consequence, apply effective treatment. The film was prepared by the
Pink Butterfly Association
, a non-profit organization supporting patients treated at the Breast Cancer Center of the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk. It was established in November 2019 by medical staff, patients and friends gathered at the UCC Breast Cancer Center. The Association’s mission is to help people suffering from cancer, including breast diseases, at all stages of the disease (from diagnosis, through treatment and convalescence).

The Pink Butterfly Association, Olivia Centre, Energa Volunteers from the ORLEN Group and the Orlen Foundation invite you to the Pink Ribbon March on 16 October.
Tie the ribbon with us at 12:00
. Let’s start on Olivia’s patio!

Did you know?

  • Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide (25%) and the leading cause of death (14%), and breast cancer patients account for 36% of women living with cancer. It is estimated that nearly 1.7 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and more than 500,000 die from it. It is a heterogeneous disease in which we distinguish different subtypes.
  • The highest incidence of breast cancer is recorded in industrialized countries (Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain). The lowest incidence is in countries in Africa and Southeast Asia. Geographic region is a factor that significantly modifies the risk of breast cancer.
  • In Poland, breast cancer has become one of the biggest threats to premature mortality of women in the last century. Breast cancer also occurs in men, although very rarely. It is estimated that one in the number of cases of breast cancer is breast cancer in men.
  • The risk factors for the development of the disease are complex, but the key factors seem to be those related to the hormonal status of the woman (reproductive factors, age of puberty and menopause, use of hormonal preparations). The incidence of breast cancer increases with age. Cancer is rare among women under 45 years of age, and the majority of cases occur in women over 50 years of age (80% of patients in Poland).
  • A factor that significantly increases the risk of developing breast cancer is the presence of a mutation in the BRCA1 gene or the BRCA2 gene. It is estimated that 4-8% of breast cancers may be the result of inherited mutations, the remaining cases are the result of sporadic mutations in somatic cells.
  • Diagnosis and early detection (secondary prophylaxis) based on regular mammography examinations (screening) are of decisive importance in the context of prevention and prevention of the development of advanced breast cancer.

We support the Pomeranian Team for Women and the Pink Box campaign

Do you know that the Pomeranian Voivodeship Board has a Pomeranian Team for Women? This advisory and consultative body, chaired by Jolanta Szydłowska, President of the Management Board of the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development, was established in 2021. Its creation is related to the implementation of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Development Strategy 2030, which assumes the promotion of equality and social inclusion of all inhabitants of the region, regardless of gender, race, religion, worldview and other factors.

The most important task of the Pomeranian Team for Women’s Empowerment is to raise public awareness of the equal treatment of women in terms of work, pay and career advancement. PZdsK monitors and analyses the needs related to equal professional and economic opportunities for women. Importantly, the team analyses the activity of organisations, local governments and other entities in the field of equality practices. It develops comprehensive information on the situation in the region in terms of equal rights for women and men, identifies barriers to be overcome, recommends systems for promoting equality practices and policies in this area. In addition, the team’s work involves establishing cooperation and exchanging good practices with other bodies and institutions conducting similar activities. More about the Team. Women…

In May this year. the team provided the Board of the Pomeranian Voivodeship with a list of issues and areas of significant importance for women and equality between women and men. The document called ” Cheat Sheet for Women” is a list of issues of key importance for a better life, safety and health for women and for equal rights for women and men.

In June 2023, the team presented recommendations to local authorities on actions to counteract menstrual exclusion. He also addressed his position to Pomeranian companies and institutions, thus supporting the m.in. colleagues from the Youth Assembly of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. We encourage you, our Residents, to join the simple but very important initiative, already known more widely as the “Pink Box”.

The first such box appeared in Wrocław at the end of 2019 at the local Women’s Rights Centre. Today, they are all over Poland, but there are still too few of them. Pink boxes filled with sanitary pads and tampons are a concrete help for women in this aspect of their physiology, which is still talked about half-heartedly or not talked about at all. There are at least several dozen of them in the Tri-City at the moment and more are still appearing. As part of its cooperation with UNICEF , Gdańsk has acquired over a thousand pink boxes, which can already be seen in schools and non-governmental organizations. You can find them in aid centres, clubs or cafes, in libraries, hospitals, clinics, museums (e.g. in Gdynia). Check out the map of pink boxes…

It’s time for us to check if we also have them in our companies and offices! It is worth getting involved in this action, because according to the first reports in Poland on Including. menstrual poverty, prepared for the Kulczyk Foundation:

  • one in five Polish women does not have money to buy hygiene products necessary for menstruation,
  • almost 40 per cent. Women from poorer households had to give up the purchase of hygiene products in favor of other expenses,
  • almost 60 per cent. students had to ask someone to buy tampons or sanitary pads because they didn’t have their own.
  • 21 percent. had to leave school/university to get hygiene products,
  • On the other hand, 10 per cent , due to the lack of tampons or sanitary pads, stayed at home.

Pinktober in Olivia. Tie a ribbon with us!

The first(s) win!

Around the world, October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Monthpeople struggling with the disease. The distinctive pink ribbon, an international symbol of the fight against breast cancer, will illuminate Olivia Star’s façade on October 16 , the day of our event, and just after the European Breast Cancer Day. Once again, we want to remind the residents of the Tri-City about life-saving prevention. That’s not all. Once again, Olivia is involved in the ” First Ones Win” campaign, which is a grassroots initiative of amazing ladies – Natalia Cebula, Magdalena Pakmur, Ewa Opiela and Kamila Dymowska, who work for Energa, part of the ORLEN Group.

The project is substantively supported by the
Pink Butterfly Association
and the
Breast Disease
Center at the University Clinical Center. The campaign is part of Pinktober’s global campaign to promote breast cancer prevention, traditionally held in October. The aim of the “First Ones Win” campaign is to change the perception of breast cancer and the fear of the disease and its treatment, as well as to ensure that cancer is treated as a disease that can be prevented by regular check-ups.

The event was held under the media patronage of
Radio Gdańsk
. We are also supported by
Trojmiasto.pl.

Therefore, on behalf of us, Energa Volunteers, we would like to invite you, Dear Residents and Neighbors, on October 16 at 12:00 p.m. on Olivia’s patio. Just “Tie the ribbon with us!”

Let us know you’ll be

Tie a ribbon with us, or the Pink Ribbon

It is in fact a walk, a symbolic march with which we want to express solidarity and support for people affected by breast cancer. Among our Residents there are also oncological patients. Let’s show that we keep our fingers crossed for them and support them with warm thoughts!

This year, we will try to set the route in such a way that its course resembles the shape of a tied ribbon, hence the motto. The symbol of the ribbon, weather permitting, will be drawn on the patio by children from our White Kitten Olive Kindergarten.

Participants will receive a warm-up coffee from Santander, a sweet treat and “anti-stress” in the shape of a woman’s breast.

On the patio from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m . there will also be sA special tent that will house m.in. stations with phantoms, where you will be able to learn how to properly self-examine your breasts. There will be leaflets – a cheat sheet on how to get tested along with information on where to go for help.

At the end, as usual, we will take a souvenir photo.

And here let us know that you will

Breast cancer affects not only women, but also men, so we hope that men will also appear in large numbers at the starting line. Let’s remember that early detection of breast cancer gives a good chance of complete recovery. So it’s worth getting tested and, above all, don’t be afraid to face it!

That was the case a year ago. Let there be even more of us!
