New year usually brings new plans and objectives to be accomplished. Often such plans are converted into real events, experiences and successes. But as often ambitious intentions remain just a trace in our memory. How to convert such concepts, ideas, dreams into projects that could change us and our surrounding we talked at the author’s meeting at the Olivia Business Centre with Marek Kamiński, a traveller, polar explorer, businessman. The event took place on 13 January at O4 coworking space of the Olivia Business Centre within the interdisciplinary OBC project, Olivia Cooltura.

The book “The Third Pole” and the film “Pilgrim. Camino by Marek Kamiński” directed by Jan Czarlewski, are excellent sources of knowledge of the expedition, a “pilgrimage between the poles of faith and mind”, as Marek Kamiński calls the space between Kaliningrad and Santiago de Compostela. This is an extraordinary tale on the way, people, contemporary Europe. The story happened in 2015. Marek Kamiński walked then 4000 km in 100 days following the legendary Camino pilgrimage route, called St. James’s Path. Kamiński calls the travel “a journey inside himself”, “the most important expedition in life”.

The numerous audience at OBC (a record number of guests, over 130 people!) listened to Marek Kamiński’s lively account in his mental preparations to the expedition that gave the traveller a different, new dimension. At the beginning, when he started to think about the route (over 13 years ago), he had only one goal in mind: “Go to Santiago”. Afterwards, a strong need for personal development arose – during the trip and conversations with the people he met on he way.

In a conversation with the moderator of the meeting, Monika Bogdanowic of the Olivia Business Centre, Marek Kamiński told us why being active physically and mentally is our internal choice and that it is worth following your heart in life. As usually, very vividly and in an interesting way he spoke about his thoughts concerning Camino. He revealed that the trip was not only a great adventure and an opportunity to meet magnificent people but also a unique lesson of history, humility, patience, resilience. It turned out that the most important experience and the most important lesson Marek Kamiński learned from the trip was a spiritual lesson, the realisation that the trip gave him what he had been looking for, gave him sense and peace of soul. Finding new objectives and new roads to walk.

The route that Marek Kamiński intended to cover seemed uncomplicated at the beginning to those that he had already made. It led through easy lowland regions of Central and Western Europe; however, finally it proved to be for Marek Kamiński as exhaustive physically and mentally as his polar expeditions. Due to the fact that the pilgrimage was demanding, the traveller was able to fully live through his spiritual transformation. And find a sense of a real pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.

During the expedition, Kamiński met many interesting people: students who supported him with finding a place to stay overnight, shared their modest resources or supported him on the route accompanying him for several kilometres, people associated with science and church, to other enthusiasts, travellers and pilgrims. The meetings gave a lot of good things to the traveller, unselfish help and interesting and inspiring conversations.

During the expedition, Kamiński met many interesting people: from students who provided him with accommodation support, regaled him with modest supplies, or supported him along the route, walking several kilometers together, through people associated with science and the church, to other enthusiasts, travelers and pilgrims. These meetings brought the wanderer a lot of good, selfless help and interesting and inspiring conversations.

Alicja Wieczorek

In 2000 she graduated from the piano class of prof. Zbigniew Śliwiński at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. In the same year, she began working as an accompanist at the Faculty of Instrumental Music at her alma mater. She owes her skills in the field of chamber music to a large extent to her work in chamber ensembles led by Prof. Anna Prabucka. While still a student, she received the second prize at the National Competition of Chamber Pianists in Częstochowa, and in 1993 she received numerous awards for accompaniment during competitions at which she performed: at the National Double Bass Competition. Wiktor Gadziński in Katowice (2006), at the XXXII Young Musician Competition in Szczecinek, at the First Meeting of Young Wind Musicians in Elbląg, at the National Competition for Wind Instruments Miniatura 2011, twice at the Double Bass Competition in Starogard Gdański (2010, 2012), at the II Włocławek Violin Meetings (2011), at the CEA National Auditions of Secondary Music School Students. Violin and Viola Classes in Kielce (2013), at the VI West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival in Szczecin (2014), at the XVI Academic Clarinet Competition in Włoszakowice (2015), at the National Viola and Double Bass Competition in Gdańsk (2016), at the CEA National Clarinet Competition in Katowice (2016). She has accompanied many courses and workshops conducted in the Tri-City by artists such as Jean-Marc Fessard, Antonio Saiote, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Andrew Marriner, Wolfgang Meyer and others, as well as during three editions of the International Wind Instruments Workshops in Szczecinek (2008, 2009 and 2010). He also works as a teacher at the Music School Complex in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz. She often performs in a duo with her husband, Grzegorz Wieczorek, a clarinetist.

Grzegorz Wieczorek

Born in 1974. He graduated from the Secondary Music School in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz in the clarinet class of prof. Andrzej Pietras. In 1996 he began his studies at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk under the supervision of the same teacher. After the death of Prof. Andrzej Pietras became a student of prof. Mark Schiller, in whose class he graduated with honors in 2001. He is a laureate of many awards and distinctions. In 2000 he received the Scholarship of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk, and a year later he was honored with the second prize in the category of the Best Student of the Tri-City, in the competition for the “Red Rose” Award. He perfected his skills during courses, working under the guidance of such outstanding teachers as: Andrzej Janicki, Mieczysław Stachura, Philippe Cuper, Wolfgang Meyer, Jean-Marc Fessard, Antonio Saiote, David Campbell.

Grzegorz Wieczorek is the first clarinetist of the orchestra of the Baltic State Opera, having toured abroad many times (Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg, Estonia). As a musician of this orchestra, he had the opportunity to perform many times at opera festivals in Bydgoszcz and Poznań, as well as at the opera festival in Szeged, Hungary, organized and broadcast by the French television Mezzo. Grzegorz Wieczorek collaborates with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic of Wojciech Rajski. He has performed as a soloist with the Academic Symphony Orchestra and the Poznań Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he is associated with the “Hevelius” clarinet quartet, the Gdańsk Wind Instruments Ensemble, as well as the Mozart Basethorn Ensemble. Since 2001 he has been employed at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, and in the academic year 2011/2012 he took the position of assistant professor at the same academy.

Dawid Głowacki

A first-year PhD student at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. He graduated with honors in 2016 in the class of Dr. Grzegorz Wieczorek. Participant of many national and international competitions. Winner of the first prize at the 12. International Independent Music Competition “Individuals” in Kiev (November 2014). Winner of the first prize at the eMuse Music Competition in Athens (April 2016). Winner of the second prize at the VI International Music Competition, Stockholm (June 2016). He has received numerous awards at national competitions. Together with the clarinet quartet, with which he has been collaborating since 2011, he has won many awards, m.in. second prize at the VI International Music Competition, Stockholm (June 2016), third prize (twice) at the 6th and 7th West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival (national and international). He has collaborated with many conductors, m.in Sigiswald Kuijken, Zygmunt Rychert, Wojciech Michniewski, Kai Bumann, Paweł Kotla, Adam Sztaba. He took part in many workshops conducted by: Prof. Mieczysław Stachura; Prof. Florent Heau, Prof. Jean-Marc Fessard (France); Antonio Saiote (Portugal); Gabor Varga (Hungary); Mark van de Wiel (England); Hannah Morgan, Andrew Marriner (England); Jan Jakub Bokun, PhD; Igor Frantisak (Czech Republic).

Aleksandra Wasilewska

A graduate of Katarzyna Rywalska’s clarinet class – a teacher of the Zygmunt Noskowski Primary and Secondary Music School in Gdynia. Laureate of many national and regional competitions, m.in. 2nd place in the national auditions of the CEA, 2nd place in the National Clarinet Festival in Szczecin, 2nd place in the Poznań Competition of Wind Instruments. Currently, he is studying at the Fryderyk Chopin Secondary School in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz in the class of Dr. Grzegorz Wieczorek.

Alicja Wieczorek

She acted as an accompanist at multiple competitions and workshops held in the Tricity by such artists as: Jean-Marc Fessard, Antonio Saiote, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Andrew Marriner, Wolfgang Meyer and others, as well as during three editions of International Wind Instrument Workshops in Szczecinek (2008, 2009 and 2010). She also works as a teacher in the Music School Complex in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz. She often performs in a duet with her husband, Grzegorz Wieczorek – a clarinettist.

Grzegorz Wieczorek

Born in 1974. He completed Secondary Music School in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz in Prof. Andrzej Pietras’ clarinet class. In 1996 he started studies at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk in the same teacher’s class. After Prof. Andrzej Pietras’ decease, he continued his studies under Prof. Marek Schiller and in his class he graduated with distinction in 2001. He is a winner of numerous prizes and honourable mentions. In 2000 he received a Scholarship of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk and a year later he was awarded the second prize in the Best Tricity Student category, in the competition for the “Red Rose” Prize. He developed his skills during courses, working under the direction of such artists as: Andrzej Janicki, Mieczysław Stachura, Philippe Cuper, Wolfgang Meyer, Jean-Marc Fessard, Antonio Saiote, David Campbell.

Grzegorz Wieczorek is the Principal Clarinettist of the Baltic Opera orchestra; many times he participated in tours abroad (Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg, Estonia). As a musician of the orchestra he participated many times in opera festivals in Bydgoszcz, Poznań as well as in the opera festival in Szeged, Hungary, organised and broadcast by the French television Mezzo. Grzegorz Wieczorek collaborates with the Wojciech Rajski Polish Chamber Philharmonic. He has given concerts as a soloist with the Academic Symphony Orchestra and Poznań Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he works with the clarinet quarter “Hevelius”, Gdańsk Wind Instrument Ensemble and the Mozart Basethorn Ensemble. Since 2001 employed in the Academy of Music in Gdańsk; in the academic year 2011/2012 he was nominated assistant professor at the Academy.

Dawid Głowacki

First year doctoral student at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. He graduated with distinction in 2016 in Dr. Grzegorz Wieczorek’s class. Participant in numerous national and international competitions. Winner of the first prize at the 12th International Independent Music Competition “Individualis” in Kyiv, Ukraine (November 2014). Winner of the first prize in the eMuse Music Competition in Athens, Greece (April 2016). Winner of the second prize at the 6th International Music Competition, Stockholm, Sweden (June 2016). Winner of numerous distinctions at national competitions. Along with the clarinet quarter with which he has been working since 2011, he was the winner of many prizes, including: second prize at the 6th International Music Competition, Stockholm, Sweden (June 2016), third prize (twice) at the 6th and 7th West Pomeranian Clarinet Competition (national and international coverage). He collaborated with many conductors, e.g. Sigiswald Kuijken, Zygmunt Rychert, Wojciech Michniewski, Kai Bumann, Paweł Kotla, Adam Sztaba. Musical weekend is behind us! A concert of Polish and Ukrainian Christmas Carols by Trio “Motivo” was held last Friday. On Saturday, within the Olivia Camerata cycle, we could listen to the most beautiful Christmas Carols performed by the K. Szymanowski Singing Society Choir conducted by Józefa Siudaczyńska-Babicz. Thank you for your attendance and we invite you to future concerts at the Olivia Sky Club.

Concert of Polish and Ukrainian Christmas Carols

We invite you to participate in the “Work out the Future” project, organised by the City of Gdańsk. Our Resident – Talent Development Centre is the partner in the project. The objective is to support the participants (students, university graduates, adult secondary technical school students) in gaining professional experience that may help them find a first job and stay in the local labour market, as well as to support companies looking for trainees or future employees.

The project is aimed at students and university graduates, as well as adult secondary technical school students and graduates of such schools. Internships are to be sponsored by companies, NGOs and other institutions who will undertake to accept trainees and pay them remuneration at the minimum level specified in the project regulations.

The project may be joined at any time throughout its duration. The sponsors may offer internships latest by 14 July 2017, while candidates may file their applications latest by 28 July 2017. The duration of the internship and form of employment will be individually agreed between the sponsor and trainee. The internship should last minimum 1 month.

The “Work out the Future” project has gained much interest among participants as well as companies and entrepreneurs. In the first edition, 108 internships were offered with 424 willing participants.

 

We cordially invite you to a lecture with elements of the workshop, inaugurating the Marriage Development Academy entitled: “Dare to be close”, which will take place on February 8 (Wednesday), at 6.00 p.m., in the O4 coworking space (Olivia Four building). Marriage Week is a social campaign promoting this special, complementary bond between a woman and a man, present in 22 countries, on 4 continents and taking place annually on the same date from 7 to 14 February. This year, its third edition will take place in Poland. The lecture will be conducted by psychologist and psychotherapist Agnieszka Kamińska.

All fairy tales about love, in which the characters in love overcome a lot of obstacles to be together, end with the longed-for wedding and the punchline: “they lived happily ever after”. In life, it is often the opposite – obstacles and hardships begin only after marriage. Our imaginations, dreams and fantasies about of a wonderful relationship are confronted with reality. The question arises: are the happy couple just pictures from fairy tales, movies and advertisements?

During the lecture “Dare to be close” we will try to understand where the desire for a happy relationship comes from and why it is so difficult for us to achieve it. Why, despite the fact that we both want it, is it so often difficult for us to achieve it? We will try to experience and understand what psychological mechanisms (both conscious and less conscious) we activate, which distance us from emotional closeness and often condemn us to loneliness in a relationship.

The lecture will also help those who have already dared to be close, but are still working on the quality of their relationship. It will help you understand what is hindering and what helps you achieve your goal of “living happily ever after”. It will show you what to avoid and what to do to build a close, intimate bond and be successful in your marriage.

Agnieszka Kamińska – psychotherapist, psychologist. She completed one of the first editions of Core Training in Poland – an advanced, comprehensive training in the field of ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy), obtaining an international ISTDP psychotherapist certificate, entitling her to independently conduct psychotherapy in this trend. Originator and co-founder of the Polish Institute of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy – SENTIO. Ambassador of this innovative method of personal development and psychotherapy in Poland. For 16 years, she has been inspiring and helping people with personal development and emotional balance in life. She actively participates in an international project – a cyclical, annual social campaign “Marriage Week International” implemented in 22 countries on 4 continents, since 2015 she has been co-responsible for its Polish edition of “Marriage Week”, which takes place annually from 7 to 14 February. She is socially involved in the Association of Christian Psychologists, where she is the president of the Gdańsk branch. Her life motto: Be bold and act.

Goyello, a Polish & Dutch IT company, plans its further dynamic development in the Olivia Business Centre. The company prolonged its agreement on the lease of office space in the OBC, decided to take up some additional area and move to the Olivia Star. The Goyello team has been a resident of Olivia since 2011, i.e. from the beginning of the centre’s existence.

Goyello: young and talented

Goyello specializes in the provision of IT solutions developed in line with the principles of the Agile methodology[1]. Customers of Goyello are enterprises from the B2B[2] sector. Distinctive features of the company include flexibility, openness and partnership relations within the team and with customers including companies from Europe and the United States.

Goyello celebrated its 10^th birthday in November 2016. Throughout these years, the company has won numerous awards. Among others, it was awarded the prestigious Dutch-Polish Business Award, a distinction for the most innovative and responsible companies with a positive impact on the Polish-Dutch economic relations. Goyello also won the IT Leaders 2016 contest in the “Business Intelligence Trends” category.

Direction: development. In the Olivia Star

The company’s office is currently located in the Olivia Gate building. Goyello signed its first contract for 500 sq.m in 2011. The company doubled its team in five years. The new Polish office of Goyello on the 9^th floor of the Olivia Star building occupies 1300 sq.m. and more than 100 people will work there. Actively in the Olivia Business Centre community

As a resident of the Centre almost since the beginning of its development, Goyello has been taking an active part in the life of the community of the Olivia Business Centre. The team welcomes Olivia residents coming to work with tulips, the most Dutch ones of all flowers each year on the King’s Day.

It also successfully participates in the Olivia Sports program.

Next Tuesday (31.01), at 1.00 p.m., in Olivia Sky Club (Olivia Tower building, 12th floor) there will be another meeting of the Dessert with HR series. The organizers of the event are Olivia Business Centre and Sii Gdańsk, and the partner is Radisson Blu. The meeting is dedicated to HR specialists and managers.

The goal of Dessert with HR is to exchange knowledge about HR tools and processes and, in fact, to get to know this environment from the proverbial inside out. These events were created for specialists from the HR, EB and marketing industries – says Alicja Sawicka, the originator of the initiative. The series of meetings is also a platform for networking and, above all, conversation. Thanks to the substantive program and inspiring guests, Dessert with HR attracts nearly 100 specialists from the largest companies in Pomerania and companies from the BPO/SSC area.

13:15 – 14:15 – Why do we need crises? Changing jobs, divorces, restructuring in an organization, losing a loved one, laying off employees… in a word, it’s a crisis. Perverse questions – why do we need crises? The aim of the meeting is to encourage the audience of Deser z HR to look for personal potential, to cope with difficult life and professional situations. This question and many others will be answered by Małgorzata Mickiewicz – business psychologist, owner of the training company Studio HR. She conducts managerial trainings and coaching. She organizes a series of meetings for the HR industry – HR Eagles. It accompanies people and organizations in their development, also in crisis situations.
