PIT in Gdansk. It’s worth it! Olivia Business Centre supports the action of the City of Gdańsk

PIT in Gdansk. It’s worth it! The city of Gdansk has organized a lottery in which you can win a car. Olivia Business Centre supports the campaign. On 1April (Tuesday), from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., at the Olivia Gate, Olivia Tower, Olivia Six and Olivia Four receptions, you will be able to get detailed information and receive answers to your questions over a cup of coffee. “Do you live in Gdansk, but have you paid taxes where you are registered? Change it!” – encourage the city authorities in the new campaign “PIT in Gdańsk. The main goal of the campaign is to convince the “new” residents to submit their annual PIT tax return in Gdańsk, where they live, work, rest, use Gdańsk’s transport and infrastructure on a daily basis. On the website of the gdansk.pl/pit campaign, there is a link to the PIT settlement program. This is a convenience for those who would like to settle accounts with the tax office electronically. However, taking advantage of this program is not a requirement to participate in the lottery. PIT can be settled in a traditional way, sent by post, submitted in person or sent electronically. Any form of filing PIT in Gdańsk entitles you to participate in the lottery.

Then, on the www.gdansk.pl/pit website, you need to fill out a form to register your participation in the lottery. The form will be active until May 10.

The form should include your name and surname, PESEL number, e-mail address and phone number. And also confirm the fact of submitting the PIT declaration for 2016 to the Tax Office competent for the administrative area of Gdańsk. Anyone who submits a PIT declaration in Gdańsk for the first time should also indicate it in the form. After completing the form, the lottery participant will receive a unique registration code.

Step 3

On May 15 , a prize draw will be held at the City Hall in Gdańsk at ul. New Gardens 8/12.
The prize pool includes: household appliances, game consoles (10 pieces), city bikes (5 pieces), as well as a hybrid model of the TOYOTA YARIS car in a premium version!

All people who have correctly filled out the form by May 10 will take part in the draw. In the event that the winner of any of the prizes does not meet the conditions set out in the lottery regulations, the prize will be transferred to a person from the reserve list.

The results of the lottery will be published on the website of www.gdansk.pl/pit

Who can’t participate in the lottery?

BPO Education Center of the Sopot University of Applied Science, as well as Job Office (the unit of Employment Office in Gdańsk), which are active in Olivia Business Centre, educated accountants once again. This time for OBC residents thyssenkrupp, Fujifilm and Kemira. Another edition of “Corporate Accounting” training was completed. Thanks to this course, 8 persons have already been employed as junior accountants. All of them were recruited by Job Office localised in Olivia – a specialised office of Employment Office in Gdańsk (GUP) dedicated to support corporate employers in broadly understood human resources management.

“For 4 years we have been helping the residents of our region to gain unique competences essential for work in financial services centres”, says
Sylwia Broda
from BPO Education Centre. “Now we proved once again that thanks to the invaluable support of our partners it is possible for the residents to gain skills required by BPO/SSC sectors, find an attractive job and begin, within a couple of months, a career in an international corporation”.

We prepared this training in response to specific needs of thyssenkrupp, Fujifilm and Kemira. They were looking for employees for the position of junior accountant“, explains Anna Legan from Job Office. “Let me remind you that all employers with head offices in the city or within Gdańsk District can turn to us or our Job Office with their needs concerning professional staff”.

“If search for people with certain competences turns out to be unsuccessful, Employment Office can organise training courses with the guarantee of employment within tripartite agreements”, adds Krzysztof Kunicki from Job Office.

The effectivity of trainings, as well as still growing BPO/SSC sector’s demand for well-qualified staff mean that corporate accounting training will be continued in the future. More information about the next edition of the project can be found under the “News” section on GUP’s website www.gup.gdansk.pl, as well as on Job Office’s fanpage.

14 weeks’ “Corporate Accounting” training began at the beginning of November 2016. During 240 hours of theoretical classes trainees were gaining knowledge in the fields of accounting, structure and procedures of the companies from BPO/SSC (shared services) sector, financial-accounting systems (SAP ERP), as well as advanced command of spreadsheets. What is more, they took part in 60 hours of German language course.

Trainees were handed their course completion certificates on February 27 during a ceremony organised in O4 conference centre in Olivia Business Centre. Already from March 1, the graduates of the training programme began their work in the companies which were engaged in the project.

– We try to create optimal conditions for development and cooperation for the Companies residing in Olivia Business Centre. “Corporate Accounting” training is a great example of effective and efficient cooperation of enterprises and institutions which are present in our centre. And, on top of that, in a spirit of good neighbourly relations – says Agnieszka Zglinicka, Director of SME in Olivia Business Centre. – Job Office analyses human-resource needs and recruits trainees, BPO Education Center trains and our Residents, thyssenkrupp, Fujifilm and neighbouring Kemira –employ. The fact that international corporations, HR companies, business support institutions, Job Office and Talent Development Centre are in one place, brings excellent results.

From the start, one of the main assumptions of Olivia Business Centre was its multi-functional nature that covers also assistance for residents as regards recruitment. Currently, in the centre there are 9 entities (commercial entities and local governments), whose main area of activity is HR sector.

Landscape seminar – how to effectively take care of the aesthetics of Polish towns?

We cordially invite you to the experts’ seminar titled “The landscape resolution. Between the legal regulation and local government practice” to be held on March 31, in the Olivia Sky Club (Olivia Tower building, 12th floor) at 11 a.m – 4:30 p.m. The organisers of the event are Metropolitan Institute and the University of Gdańsk. Olivia Business Centre is a partner of the seminar.

The landscape resolution – a new tool in Polish law to enable a commune to regulate the location of advertisements, small architecture and fences – still poses many problems. It is not only difficult to compile, but also raises legal doubts regarding, for instance, the procedure of its adoption and the scope of interference in proprietorship. That is why the Metropolitan Institute and the University of Gdańsk decided to organise a seminar aimed at resolving the above-mentioned doubts and indicating exemplary good practices. As a consequence, on March 31 in Olivia Tower in Gdańsk, the practitioners such as architects, urban planners, urban visual artists, clerks, and the theoreticians like lawyers and academicians will meet to discuss essential issues concerning the landscape regulation. The event has been divided into two expert panels. The first – practical one – will focus on presenting chosen landscape regulations, while the second panel – on more theoretical issues, that is construction and legal effects of this resolution – says Dominik Wilk, seminar’s coordinator. – The formula of the event is to combine two views on this new tool in Polish law, that is landscape resolution: practical and theoretical. That is why, everyone: both practitioners and didactics experts, who are interested in the subject will find something noteworthy for themselves. Furthermore, panellists come from the whole country, what broadens the scope of presented views – adds Jakub H. Szlachetko, PhD, President of the Council of Metropolitan Institute.

The programme of the seminar

The Metropolitan Institute is an expert organisation (think tank), which integrates the representatives of different scientific disciplines (law, administration, urban planning), as well as different professions (lawyers, clerks) and passions (social activists, volunteers). The mission of the Institute is to provide expertise, which is capable of unassisted carrying out of interdisciplinary research, creating public discourse, as well as close cooperation with public authorities.
