HRBP Club in Olivia: about cultural diversity

The meeting of the HRBP Club, operating at Olivia Business Centre, is behind us. Together with the Provincial Labour Office in Gdańsk and with the participation of the Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Ryszard Świlski – who this time acted as a manager of several thousand employees from a non-business industry – we talked about cultural diversity, which is becoming an everyday reality for employers.

– The club’s philosophy is based on the need to integrate the HR environment in the Tri-City, create a common platform and improve competences. Currently, there are over 150 specialists from Tri-City companies in it. During each meeting, we provide inspiring knowledge and give an example of good HR practice from a specific company –Says Małgorzata Gwozdz, HR Club Chairwoman, HR Director at Olivia.

Participants learned about Hofstede’s research on: between organisational culture and national culture. The experience of working abroad – the differences and similarities of the labour market – was discussed by managers who have fulfilled their careers in other markets.

The next meeting, in June, will be a summary of the year of the HRBP Club’s activity. We invite you today.

We are partnered by HR Solutions Group, Training Designers, Business Centre Club – Gdańsk Lodge.

Sail with us to Bornholm!

Olivia Sports organizes a cruise to Bornholm. Sail with us! The cruise is for everyone:) For those who are just starting their adventure with the sea and for seasoned seasoned travelers. For young and a little older. For the brave and shy. For those who have a storm jacket and those who are just planning to buy it;) Take a friend, an acquaintance, a mom, an uncle, a sister, Bart. Catch the wind in your sails with us!

Therefore… If you are wondering if you can sail with us, don’t hesitate!

We take on board all those who want to actively relax on a sea cruise. You don’t need to have any qualifications or sailing experience. The cruise will be led by an experienced captain who will take care of all technical aspects and safety of the participants. It’s going to be special!:)

Cruise dates:

27.07 – 02.08.2019 (Saturday-Friday)

Set course for Bornholm and Christianso with us

Ahead of us are the Danish islands, where we will taste freshly smoked fish and visit m.in. The center of the Middle Ages, Hammershus Fortress, high cliffs and sandy beaches. Then we will head towards Karlskrona – a port located in the heart of the Swedish archipelago. There are many attractions waiting for us there: the Kungsholms fortress, the old shipyard Gamla Varvet, the Naval Museum with exhibits of ships, as well as a kind of symbol of Sweden – the island of Brändaholm with 43 red houses.

So what’s our plan?

First of all, we relax and have a great time. People who want to develop their sailing skills will be able to take part in driving a yacht, planning a route or reading flights. In navigation, we will use paper maps, but also modern electronics, autopilot and other installations offered by the yacht.

Suggested route:

Gdynia – Bornholm – Öland – Karlskrona – Gdynia

The final shape of the route will be discussed with the helmsman on the day of the start of the cruise based on weather forecasts and crew preferences.

Cruise price:

1390 PLN.

The price includes:

  • a place on a yacht with full equipment,
  • care of an experienced skipper,
  • training in sailing, flight, navigation lights, operation of yacht installations, navigation instruments, VHF radio.

Additional charges on site:

  • On-board ticket office (about 200-300 PLN per person) – the crew contributes to common expenses: food (including skipper), fuel, parking fees. Unspent money is returned to the participants at the end of the cruise.

Our yacht

Bavaria 37 – comfortable yacht for 8 people (7 participants + skipper)

We sail on a new model of a yacht from the renowned German brand Bavaria. Yachts of this manufacturer are very popular among shipowners and customers all over Europe. They are characterized by user-friendliness, easy handling, safety, great space layout and comfort.

  • 8 berths
  • length 11.30 m
  • width: 3.67 m
  • draught 1.95 m
  • 28 hp engine
  • fuel tank 150 l
  • number of cabins – 3 (available for cruise participants, the skipper sleeps in the mess hall) water tank 210 l
  • 1 bathroom

Bornholm

It is not for nothing that Bornholm is called a paradise for cyclists. 235 kilometers of bicycle paths, marked out away from traffic, will satisfy even the most demanding amateurs of this sport. There are plenty of attractions to see and visit along the way: the NaturBornholm Natural History Museum with interesting interactive exhibitions, the Joboland water park, the Middle Ages Centre, as well as art glass factories and herring smokehouses. It is also worth stopping to try the famous sweets from the small winery in Snogebaek and Svaneke.

Karlskrona

A city in the heart of the archipelago, it captivates with its peaceful climate. The center itself is located on an island 6 km away from the mainland! You can relax after the cruise in an atmospheric café or go to visit several interesting places: the War Museum in Karlskrona – there are real full-size warships, XVI figureheads, unique models and an underwater tunnel where you can admire the wreck of a sailing ship at the bottom of the sea. Right next to the city centre is the small island of Bränd, where there are 43 red houses. You can also visit the Kungsholms Fort, which defended the gates of Karlskrona for over 300 years. Exotic plants have been brought here over the years on board many ships returning from long voyages, now they flourish protected by the fortress walls. The old shipyard Gamla Varvet is now one of Karlskrona’s biggest tourist attractions. It is also the most important World Heritage Site in Karlskrona. In the shipyard there is, for example, a 300-metre-high building from 1692, in which ropes were tied, the longest wooden building in Sweden and the first dry dock, the so-called “Dry Dock”. “Polhemsdockan”, built between 1716 and 1724, was then referred to as the eighth wonder of the world.

The Grand Final of the Olivia Business Centre Football League

The third championship in history was won by the Dream Team Indestructibles Energa, who after a thrilling finale disillusioned the defending champion team City Fit. The third place was won by the players of the Lechia Gdańsk Foundation. As they announce, they haven’t said their last word yet!

It’s going to be a well-deserved holiday. The fight for supremacy in the 9th edition of the Olivia Business Centre Football League was very fierce! Throughout the season, the players have proven that passion gives wings. According to the fans, a professional would not be ashamed of the technically scored goals and actions conducted, so the hopes related to the next season are growing. Both for the players and the fans, who are increasingly supporting the rival teams.

The ball is round and there are two goals!

First, in the match for the third place, last year’s finalists – Lechia Gdańsk Foundation, defeated thyssenkrupp 7:5. There is power in this team, because for the second time in the knockout stage, Lechista managed to make up for a two-goal loss after the break to finally win the game.

There is a slight dissatisfaction, last year we were in the final, and even this year we were close to it – said the captain of FLG, Kamil Kosior, after the match.

Finally, the time has come for the “Grande Finale” of the season, in which the defending champions CityFit and the Dream Team Indestructibles Energa competed. After an extremely exciting match, DTN Energa won 5:3, causing a surprise and winning the third championship title in its history.

It was a very difficult match. If it had lasted a few minutes longer, there could have been a draw and a penalty shootout and the excitement would have been even greater. We’ve been playing in the league since the first season, with pretty much the same squad. We had just won the first competition before and we also won the cup in 2014 – said the captain of DTN Energa, Bogusław Kowalski, after the match.

Congratulations to the opponents. It was a close competition, but we can lose. Unfortunately, it was not possible to defend the title. We hope for a rematch next year – summed up the finals Mateusz Szkoda from CityFit.

Cups, confetti and Special Guest

The setting of the final had to be up to the season. To the surprise of the competitors and fans, the decoration ceremony was broadcast live by Radio Eska. The listeners of the most popular Eska Summer City show could see how much “Olivian” shares a common passion.

That’s what it was all about, because there is not enough applause to reward the players for an excellent season. The three best teams received medals, which were presented by Agnieszka Zglinicka, Director of Resident Relations at Olivia Business Centre, together with Wojciech Walania, Plenipotentiary of the Company’s Management Board.

After a truly masterful decoration, during which there was even confetti, it was time for awards. For the second time in a row, the top scorer was Marek Przybyłek from CityFit, and the most assists were recorded by Bartek Fila from HK Finance. Once again, the fair play award was given to DTN Energa goalkeeper Kamil Bieniewicz from the hands of the Special Guest. A well-deserved trophy was presented to the surprised Kamil by Zuzanna Myszka, who in place of her husband Piotr made this special honour for every athlete. The Energy Goalkeeper finished the competition with a T-shirt signed by the windsurfing world champion and an invitation to a joint training on the water.

– The Fair Play Award turned out to be the most exciting moment of the decoration. Kamil Bieniewicz did not hide his emotions and, as emphasized not only by his teammates, it was him who fully deserved this award. Throughout the season, he was remembered as an honest player who was able to point out the wrong decisions to the referees, even those that could have had a negative impact on his team. explains Dagmara Rybicka, Communication Manager at Olivia Business Centre.

Watch the video report:

The last and probably the most awaited moment was the presentation of the Cup to the winners. They, as befits the best, showed their class by performing the anthem of the Indestructibles Energa as much as they could!

This edition has a special sporting history. 17 teams took part in the competition, and the fans had the opportunity to applaud more than 200 players who, according to the fans, gave it their all. 144 games were played, which took up 7200 minutes of play. There were 1607 goals scored by licensed football referees, who were “headed” by Kamil Kalinowski.

Now it’s time to take a breath and get a well-deserved rest. We are about to make the 10th jubilee decision, which we will start in September. We already know that the best will win!

History of the league:

  • 2018/19 – DTN Energa / CityFit / Lechia Gdańsk Foundation / thyssenkrupp

A “holiday” from everyday life. Interview with Joanna Kuczerowska-Prus from HK Finance

She takes a “vacation” from everyday life in every free moment. The shooting range allows her to get away from the hustle and bustle, calm down and focus her attention not only on her duties. When loading the magazine, he realizes how important it is to The ability to concentrate, because in sport shooting, focus is the key to success. A good eye is a myth, admits with a smile Joanna Kuczerowska-Prus from HK Finance, Junior Champion and Vice-Champion, member of the National Team, participant of international competitions and team Second Vice-Champion of the Polish in Sport Shooting.

Quite an unusual discipline, how did the adventure at the shooting range begin?

I admit, sport shooting is still a niche discipline. My beginnings were in middle school. During one of the PE lessons, recruitment for the section was organized. Our whole group had the opportunity to see what this sport is all about. The coaches watching us saw the potential in me and invited me to participate in regular trainings.

A sporty bull’s-eye?

Not at all! Initially, I had a lot of doubts. I was afraid of weapons, but I was persuaded by a friend who liked the first class very much. We trained two or three times a week, and after some time I was the only one left from the whole recruitment.

Has the barrier been broken?

Shooting got me completely hooked. I really liked the fact that in this discipline the result depends entirely on me.

How much time did you spend at the shooting range?

An average of three hours five days a week.

How many shots are fired?

I’ve never counted (laughs). Training is divided into shots and dry shots. Without ammunition, I can plan everything carefully, working on perfection in body positioning.

Is it so important?

A shot of ammunition causes recoil, and the focus is on the effect instead of the preparation. The errors that can be seen on the dial are due to the position of the body. My job is to minimize situations that affect precision. Especially since the goal is very small. The field of ten on the target for an air rifle, which is shot at from a distance of 10 meters, is only 0.5 millimeters in diameter.

Was the Olympic champion Renata Mauer-Różańska a role model?

Yes, of course she was a role model for me, she still is. I had the opportunity to compete with Renata, we shot in the same competitions. Our champion ended her career a few years ago, withdrawing from competitions. No wonder, she has achieved everything in sports!

How many women shoot sports?

In the Polish Championships, a total of about 80 ladies compete in all categories; Starting with the youngsters and ending with the seniors. It is known that the youngest are the most numerous, because girls have time to train regularly.

How are you doing?

To the best of my ability (laughs). I admit that I train quite rarely these days. I have the equipment at home, so that’s where I usually do dry workouts without ammunition and mental ones, where I arrange everything in my head. I train at the shooting range in Gdynia, so traffic jams during rush hour are an obstacle for me. Getting to the Naval Academy in Oksywie is a real trip.
Sometimes I also train in my home club in Słupsk, which I have been representing for 14 years.

How is a sporting rifle different from the guns seen in the movies?

The sports one is loaded on single ammunition. Film ones have a capacious magazine and shots are fired by machine. In sport shooting, each loaded cartridge requires separate preparations – loading the weapon, trying it on and aiming.

How much does a sporting rifle weigh?

Up to 6.5 kilograms.

How do you get used to such a load?

Systematic training means that although our body is getting better and better at coping with the weight of the equipment, it gets a hard time with the spine. That’s why we weave in general development exercises such as swimming, running and cycling, which strengthen the muscles. A specialized outfit that gently stiffens and supports the spine, which is especially important in the initial phase of your career, is helpful. Shooters start training while they are still developing, so professional equipment is very important.

When does a Sagittarius’ retirement start?

There is no upper age limit. The oldest participant and medalist of the Olympic Games was about 70 years old, but that was 100 years ago (laughs). If someone has time, likes this sport and still maintains a level that gives them satisfaction, I don’t see a problem. There are even fifty-year-olds on the national start lists.

Is your name on these lists all the time?

I try to compete regularly, of course with less intensity than at the peak of my career. My professional duties and priorities have forced me to divide my time rationally. It is easier for me to take part in competitions that are nearby, in May I took part in the second round of the Polish Cup in Bydgoszcz.

Were there any plans for the Olympics? Did you have a chance for this most important start?

When I started training seriously, I was described as one of the Olympic hopes. I was appointed to the National Team, I had the honour to represent the country during international competitions, including in Plzeň. I certainly had predispositions and these motivated me to achieve as much as possible. Unfortunately, my health got in the way, and I had to say no to my dreams.

Does the spirit of sport help you professionally?

Yes. The specificity of the life of an athlete with a lot of responsibilities and suitcases means that from an early age I learned very good organization. I know how to manage my time, I know how to set priorities, and most importantly, I am disciplined. My friends laugh that everything is always worked out to the smallest detail and nothing will happen spontaneously. They also admit that I’m a great organizer!

Next to the laptop, there was a rifle case, how did your co-workers react to it?

With great curiosity (laughs). I’m planning to go to the shooting range together for them and I hope that soon we will be able to work together with a large group. They are interested in my competitions, they ask about trainings, I can see that this shooting world fascinates them a bit.

Is a keen eye essential?

I’m going to surprise you, because many shooters have visual impairments, which can be helped by lenses and corrective glasses. The biggest role in this sport is played by what we have in our heads. If I think to myself “just don’t shoot the eight”, there is a high risk that it will fall in.

How?

I’m not going to take care of some element in my head when I put it together, get ready and shoot. It’s enough for me to lose a component, or I don’t concentrate and the “eight” may accidentally fall in. The eye takes a back seat, as my coach proved when he put me on the shooting range one day, said close my eyes and shoot.

Did you shoot?

First, I arranged my stance, closed my eyes, and fired shots. They were in the shield! Admittedly, not in the bull’s-eye, but they stopped in black.

How much time do you need to fold precisely?

It all depends on the day and the competition. I work differently when I need to wake up, and I work differently when I need peace. On average, it takes one minute to fire one shot with preparation.

Is success determined by millions of repetitions?

Yes, that’s why in training the proportions are split in half – as much as with ammunition, so much on dry. The goal is for the body to retain its muscle memory and work through the individual elements. One day we concentrate on squeezing the trigger, the next day we focus on breathing. Mixing these elements in a common unit results in a mish-mash. I’m a big believer that every workout should allow you to focus on one element. Only competitions are the time when I allow myself to be somewhat automatic.

Where did the most memorable start happen?

I think in 2008, when during the Polish Junior Championships I won gold and silver individually. In later years, I was in the lead, but I was haunted by the curse of fourth place. The most memorable events were the international competitions, which were organized at a completely different level than in Poland. Currently, Wrocław can boast of such a world shooting range. On the other hand, every trip, every start is hard to forget.

What’s in store for the future?

Polish Championships, in which I will start in August. I’m taking it more recreationally, but of course I’ll try to do my best to fight for another personal best.

In medals?

Place is not as important as the record. My dream is to break the 610-point barrier in an air rifle.

How difficult is this task?

For the world’s top scorers, certainly not. In the most important events, their results are about 627 points. The bar is set very high, it’s time to face it!

A window to the world. Olivia Star!

What everyone has been eagerly waiting for has happened! Clouds at our fingertips, a breathtaking panorama of the Tri-City and the great blue of the Bay of Gdańsk can already be admired from the observation deck on the 32nd floor of the prestigious Olivia Star building.

No wonder that the press conference announcing the most awaited opening of this season attracted all opinion-forming media of Pomerania. On the 32nd floor of Olivia Star, a breakthrough happened, becoming a harbinger of a completely new perspective for business, in which every inhabitant of the Tri-City can participate.

Magical Perspective

The public observation deck is a unique prelude to the offer offered by the largest Office Center in Pomerania. It is from the height of 130 meters that a new, unrestricted perspective of looking at the dynamically developing Gdańsk can be offered. The 360-degree view also allows you to see the biggest attractions of the Tri-City, such as the Sopot pier, the cliffs in Orłowo, the Energi Gdańsk stadium, and if the visibility is favourable, the mecca of water sports on the Hel Peninsula.

First of all, it is a new space on the map of the Tri-City, dedicated to both tourists and residents. A place where, apart from an unforgettable view, our guests will have a chance to look at the surroundings from a distance, get away from everyday life and spend a good time, regardless of whether it is a family or business meeting. The terrace is, of course, an unforgettable sight, but visitors will be able to count on an attractive culinary offer, intimate concerts and other cultural events. reveals Krystyna Hartenberger-Pater, Head of International Sales, PR & Marketing.

The observation deck is only a part of the 32nd floor, because the vision that guided the interior design is primarily to create a place that will attract visitors like a magnet and enchant visitors with a number of business, cultural and cultural events dedicated to Tri-City families.

When designing the viewing space, we faced a great challenge that is difficult to compare with any previous experience. The entire storey has been divided into 3 stylistic zones, corresponding to what visitors can see outside the window. – says architect Anna Branicka, head of the Design Anatomy team, who in a captivating way recreated the atmosphere of these places close to the heart in the Star building.

Window to the world

A window to the world, because this is probably how we can safely describe the projects, will very quickly become a cult place and important on the map of the country.

We are creating a unique place not only in the Tri-City or Poland, but I dare say – even in Europe. Not only the breathtaking 360-degree view and the possibility of going out to the outdoor terrace, located at an altitude of over 130 m, are a great attraction, but also the unique arrangement of individual spaces and the carefully selected gastronomic offer of the 32nd floor is a reason to visit this place more than once. We believe that this place will become a symbol of the city and its showcase, of which we will all be proudadds Rafał Marcyniuk – Member of the Management Board of Olivia Star Top.

The crowning achievement of the unique view and interestingly designed interiors is a multifunctional zone offering catering outlets, exhibition spaces and a place for smaller and larger events that visitors will attend.

We are aware that we lift each guest of the observation deck high above the ground, and thus allow them to look at everyday life from a distance, while giving them a moment for themselves away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We will offer a unique atmosphere of a place worth visiting. Therefore, we hope that the time spent on the mountain will be a qualitative form of relaxation and will become one of the favorite meeting places for both tourists and residents of the region invites Krzysztof Dembek, Member of the Management Board of Olivia Top Star.

This is a sign that the clouds really are at your fingertips! All you have to do is book your ticket through the official website of Tara su www.oliviastar.pl, to enjoy what is seemingly impossible, and in the blink of an eye it was created in the heart of the Tri-City.http://www.oliviastar.pl

Did you know that… March 14th is the day of the unusual number Pi?

Pi Day is celebrated around the world on March 14 due to the similarity of the decimal extension of the number to the date “March 14”, which is written in the US in the format 3.14. The first time Pi was celebrated was in 1988 at the initiative of Larry Shaw at the Exploratorium science museum in San Francisco.

What do you possibly not know about Pi?

Pi(π) is the ratio of the circumference length of a circle to the length of its diameter. This number is fascinating, m.in. Because for many years it was very difficult to calculate. The first to do so, with an accuracy of two decimal places, was probably Archimedes in the third century. BC. The Greek mathematician is believed to have been the first to analyze the properties of π in depth. He used geometry in his work.

Many authors of historical studies in the field of mathematics emphasize that π was generally treated by the ancients in a practical way. The Babylonians were content with 3,125 and the Egyptians with 3,143. Interestingly, many Egyptian structures contain an approximate value of Pi in the various relationships between the dimensions of the objects. An interesting fact is that one of the wonders of the world, which is the pyramid of Cheops, contains in its dimensions the number π with an accuracy of four decimal places. When the researchers calculated the ratio of the sum of the two sides of the base of the building to its height, it turned out to be 3.1416! To this day, there are debates as to whether this was a coincidence or whether one of the builders was an unknown genius. Information about π is even found in the Holy Scriptures. From 1 Kings 7:23 it can be inferred that Pi is equal to 3.

In 1596, the mathematician Ludolf van Ceulen calculated the value of Pi with an “astronomical” accuracy of 20 decimal places, and before his death he managed to improve the result to 35. The number Pi was engraved on his tombstone, so it is thanks to Ludolf van Ceulen that Pi is sometimes called “Ludolfina”.

The first modern formula to calculate Pi is John Wallis’s infinite product of 1655. The same one who introduced the mathematical designation of infinity that we use today.

At the end of the 19th century, the British amateur mathematician William Shanks calculated the value of Pi to 707 decimal places. Since he did the calculations by hand, it took him 15 years!

Nowadays, the latest technology and complex computer algorithms are used to precisely determine the value of Pi. In 2019 Emma Haruka from Google Japan decided to show the world her new achievement. She calculated π with an accuracy of about 31 trillion decimal places. In doing so, it broke Peter Trueb’s record set in November 2016, which achieved an accuracy of about 22.5 trillion decimal places. However, the last word has not yet been said.

Yes! Some people think that the Greek letter π refers to the name of Pythagoras. This is a mistake. It really comes from the Greek word “perimetron” or “periphery” (circumference, periphery).

40 decimal places and the world goes round

The symbol π was introduced by the Welsh mathematician William Jones in his monograph “Synopsis palmariorum mathesos” in 1706. No one can remember its exact value. However, if you want to be sure that none of the calculations you make will cause a disaster, all you have to do is encode about 40 decimal digits in your head (cliché, right?). NASA only needs a dozen or so digits of Pi expansion not to spoil the International Space Station.

In 2005, a Japanese man recited 83,431 digits of π correctly, which was checked and confirmed, and his result was included in the Guinness World Records. (We think we are going to add order to some important discussion if we mention even in passing that there is a 1 digit inthe 100,000th decimal place in Pi and that there is no sequence 123456 in the first million digits.)

Pi has long been an inspiration for parascientists and artists. Ba! π even appeared in the name of the Raspberry Pi platform (the device consists of a single printed circuit board and was invented to support the learning of the basics of computer science). Supporters of metaphysics will probably be pleased to know that among the first 100 million digits of the expansion of Pi they will find every five-digit number, and with a probability of almost 2/3 their date of birth in the DDMMYYYY format.

And one more thing about the magic of Pi

π is the basis of many formulas and problems – in geometry, mathematical analysis, number theory. In the world of physics, it can be found, for example, in Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle and in the equations of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. The number of π can also be found in other scientific disciplines, such as computer science, architecture or construction.

  • The magnetic permeability of vacuum is 4 π*10-7.
  • Pi appears in formulas for radius of atom, electron size
  • is a factor in the cosmological constant
  • It is inextricably linked to the trigonometric calculus, which in turn is used in electronics, wave physics, medicine and astronomy
