Safe Olivia, how do we work?

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Olivia’s team has been implementing a number of activities aimed at minimizing the risk of infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. We base them on 3 fundamental principles that result from international expertise in the protection of office space users:

  • maintaining a distance of at least 2 meters between building users;
  • maintaining a proper sanitary regime in buildings;
  • maximum, in the given conditions , not allowing the formation of large groups of people in small spaces.

All the works we carry out are aimed at ensuring maximum safety for Olivia’s Residents and Guests during thenew

normal. Here are a few of them:

  1. We have colour-coded each Olivia building, facilitating the movement of OBC Residents and Guests as well as communication dedicated to the changes.

  1. We have designated separate entrances and exits from the buildings.
  2. We have pasted the outdoor area, indicating the routes recommended by Olivia to the entrance to the buildings and the routes out of the buildings, with communication paths starting at key points of the Residents’ movement:
  • at the Olivia Gate A building (next to Starbucks, people heading to Olivia from the SKM Przymorze station);
  • at Olivia Four (people heading to Olivia from Wita Stwosza Street and the “Tetmajera” tram stop).

  1. We have marked the access control gates, indicating the entrance and exit.
  2. We have marked out the routes of movement in the halls of the buildings (entrances, exits) – along with an indication of the directions of movement and markings on keeping a distance.

  1. We have introduced markings for keeping a safe distance in elevators:
  • up to 4 people can travel in the main elevators at the same time;
  • Up to 2 people can move around the garage lifts at the same time.
  1. We have installed additional dispensers with disinfectant liquid in the lobby of the buildings (on the entrance roads) and in the elevator lobbies of the underground floors.
  2. We have marked the bathrooms in a way that recommends the use of every second sink and every other urinal.
  3. We have marked the changing rooms and shower cubicles in a way that limits the number of people staying in these rooms at the same time:
  • a maximum of one person is allowed on a bench in the bicycle locker room;
  • We use every second shower cubicle.

We would like to remind you of the full set of actions we are implementing, which will be in force until further notice:

Thank you for being with us on such important issues as safety and health.

What do you not know about Hala Olivia?

Olive oil as you don’t know it: Hala Olivia

Our neighbour, Hala Olivia, is one of the most recognizable sports facilities in Poland. The fate of the hall is inextricably linked with the recent history of Polish. The decision to build an artificial ice rink in Gdańsk was made in 1961. A year later, the place was indicated: the Oliwa district. The competition, announced by the Provincial Committee of Physical Culture and the Gdańsk branch of the Association of Polish Architects, received 46 works. Eventually, the design of engineer Stanisław Kuś and architects Maciej Krasiński and Maciej Gintowt (who also designed the Spodek Arena in Katowice) was sent for implementation, which was to resemble a ship overcoming sea waves.

Construction of the hall began in 1966. In the winter season of 1969/1970, an open artificial ice rink was put into use, adjacent to the indoor hall under construction. The first match played there, still without the participation of the public, took place in 1970 .

The hall received its name two years later. Per contest announced by RKS Stoczniowiec received 280 proposals. Eight teams qualified for the finals: Balton, Korab, Neptun, Stoczniowiec, Jantar, Lodmor, Olivia, Tormor.

The Olivia Hall was opened on December 16, 1972. The first events organized here (on the opening day) were a figure skating show on ice and a friendly hockey match between the second league Stoczniowiec Gdańsk and the first league Polonia Bydgoszcz, which ended with a score of 4:6.

Many cultural and sports events took place in the Olivia Hall, but the hall became a permanent fixture in modern history in 1981, when the first National Congress of the Solidarity Trade Union was held here. The programme of the union was adopted and the chairman of the National Commission was elected, Lech Wałęsa. The participants of the congress issued the famous “Message to the Working People of Eastern Europe”. The organization of the congress was possible thanks to the signing of the August Agreements in 1980, as a result of which the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” could be registered.

Stars such as Iron Maiden (1986) and Elton John (1984) have performed in the Olivia Hall. It was also the place where Dariusz Michalczewski’s first professional fight in Poland took place. Prokom Trefl basketball players played here in the Euroleague, judoka had the European Championships, and hockey players had the World Championships of the First Division. The hall was also the venue for the Baltexpo trade fair.

The hall consists of two full-size indoor ice rinks (also used as sports fields or venues for artistic performances: a folding floor made of parquet boards, an ice rink designed by Roman Lipowicz), respectively: 2660 m² and 2400 m². In the so-called A large hall can organize an event for 5.5 thousand people. Olivia has sports and recreational, hotel (Sportsman’s House “Olivia”) and catering facilities.

In the years 1995–2000 the Olivia Hall was modernized, in the period 2007–2010 the roof was renovated, in the years 2014–2015 the interior of the smaller hall was thoroughly renovated, in the spring and summer of 2016 the façade was renovated, the glazing was replaced, and external illumination was installed.

DID YOU KNOW THAT…

Olivia Star is 180 meters high, which makes it the tallest building in the Tri-City and places it among the tallest buildings in Poland. The height of the Old refers to the August events in Gdańsk in 1980, and the architecture of the summit refers to the Olivia Hall adjacent to the Olivia Business Centre.

About his paintings:

“The search for beauty in the forms and shapes that landscapes take on a daily basis has always been a big challenge for me. For as long as I can remember, Turner’s paintings have inspired my admiration, while at the same time being an incredible enigma. Until recently, completely abstract painting was my daily bread, and the longing to capture the beauty of the horizon and the views that surround me every day was pushed deep into my subconscious. The series of paintings created in 2007 and 2008 broke this barrier of fear and uncertainty related to the challenge of landscape. These paintings have a deep, even symbolic meaning for me, just as their own symbolism is complex. Colors are a kind of code: BLACKNESS is death, stagnation, the underworld of our desires and actions; RED – life, longing and fulfilment; BIEL – peace, fullness, understanding, earthliness; BRONZE – sound and movement, the basis for our actions, spirituality. There are also the subject of constructions with metal silhouettes of cranes, the beauty of which never ceases to amaze me, oil rigs that I dream of, admiring their grace and strength, as well as colossal ships gracefully cutting through the waters of the seas and oceans. All this symbolism and story, which I try to convey using sharp strokes of the putty, is designed to introduce the viewer to the world that I interact with every day, which I process to create a horizon for new discoveries.”

Anna Gross

Born in Cieszyn, painter and teacher. A graduate of the University of Silesia. She graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture under the supervision of Prof. Jerzy Fober. Since 2005 he has been living in Gdańsk. She conducts handicraft and ceramics workshops and designs jewellery. She is a resident of WL4 – an association working for the benefit of art in the Gdańsk Shipyard.

  • 2020 – Painting exhibition: “Impossible objects, possible states” with Agnieszka Ledóchowska – Republic of Dreams, Garrison of Culture, Gdańsk
  • 2019 – Painting exhibition “Psychotropy” with Tomasz Gos – WL4-Space of Art, Gdańsk

  • 2018 – International exhibition “Performative Dialogue of 27 Artists on Freedom for the 100th Anniversary of Independence (part 1)” – Hotel Groslot, Orléans, France
  • 2018 – International Exhibition “Connection” – WL4 Mleczny Piotr, Gdansk
  • 2018 – Exhibition “WL4 – reactivation” – new headquarters of WL4 Imperial Shipyard, Gdańsk

Anna Gross on art

“Painting, and more broadly – art, can take many forms. It can be sacrum or meditation, it can be a juggling trick, a riot of colors, a wink of the eye. It can be graceful or an ascetic, introverted contemplation of the world. What’s more: the artist doesn’t have to stick to one chosen path. It’s good if he experiments, changes directions and surprises – even himself. Life is a constant change, and the artist, following its meanders, reacts to reality through his sensitivity, sensitive perception of senses and meanings, and transposes them into his own language, which he uses to communicate with the world. In the clash between the creator and the viewer, a new meaning is created, new emotions, or perhaps just states in which we want to stay for longer, such as when we see an inspiring landscape, the play of light and shadow, the movement of clouds in the sky, the clash of colors that evoke memories in us, the sometimes elusive, unspeakable response from within us – just like a fragment of a song we have heard. Abstract painting often refers to such elusive glimpses of perception preserved in the subconscious. It allows them to break free.”

WE INVITE YOU FROM JULY 3 TO THE LOBBY OF OLIVIA STAR

The HR Club is already 2 years old! The 13th meeting of experts under the aegis of Olivia is behind us

The HR club at Olivia has been operating for 2 years! Another online meeting is behind us. We present a short, hot report from Małgorzata Gwozdz, HR Director at Olivia Business Centre, co-founder and originator of the Club:

“The HR Club was inspired by the need to strengthen the role of Human Resources in communication with business and in transformation processes that take into account the trends identified a few years ago. Meanwhile, each of our guests emphasized that today we had to face challenges that we did not foresee.
As Aleksandra Trapp from infuture.institute said during her speech, we live in a reality happening according to the scenario we feared the most… It is not surprising that the industry has so many questions related to it. In the end, however, the experts’ statements sounded optimistic – there are many inspiring examples around, which are worth drawing from and which can stay with us in the so-called “Slovak Republic”. “New Normal” time.
Perry Timms (People & Transformational HR Ltd.) He pointed out how important it is to organize our companies based on networking and continuous feedback. Anna Morawiec-Bartosik from Ctrl+HR emphasized the importance of data, which multiplies our strength when introducing changes and discussions with management boards.
Aleksandra Trapp also made us aware of the fact that today we can get closer to the generations that contact remotely with such ease. Whether we like it or not, today we have all become experts in this field, or at least active participants in the virtual world.
Marcin Kuźmicz from inntu presented the most interesting practices from the last 3 months and conclusions for HR managers.
What’s ahead? Another, third year of the Club’s operation and hope that soon we will meet at the traditional coffee break to discuss further inspiring speeches.”

Exhibition “12 paintings/ Piotr and Paweł Cielątkowski”

We invite you to the next exhibition at Olivia Star!

This time, as part of the Olivia Art project, we present the works of Piotr and Paweł Cielątkowskowski. The brothers run a farm in Mareza, but their greatest passion is painting. The gentlemen started their adventure with art 5 years ago. They create abstract and pop art works. Their paintings were presented m.in. at the Bay of Art in Sopot (2018) and the STALOWA Art Gallery in Warsaw (2019).

We invite you in August and September to the lobby of Olivia Star.

The first edition of the Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget has ended

We are pleased to present the results of the first edition of the Olivia Business Centre Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget. The winning projects were selected during the jury meeting which took place at the Olivia Star, the place where our picturesque district is best seen. They were announced (it could not have been otherwise) at the 9th edition of the Viva Oliva event organised by the Oliwa Town Hall of Culture.

The highest number of votes went to the Library + project submitted by a group of parents from Oliwa.

Another co-funding will go to two institutions which will jointly implement the projects, Cultural and Culinary Oliwa, submitted by the Inicjatywa Miasto Association and What is Worth Seeing in Oliwa; Inspiration over Coffee, submitted by the Affiliated Special Schools No. 2.

The third project is Arte-kreacja submitted by the Park On Association for Persons with Parkinson’s Disease and Degenerative Brain Diseases and Carers.

Congratulations!

The Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget is a project of financial support for initiatives submitted by the residents of the Oliwa district of Gdańsk. Its goal is to improve the quality of their lives, modernise the surrounding areas and introduce solutions that will develop local interactions. The First Oliwa Neighbourhood Budget is a pilot project to determine the needs of the Oliwa community for such initiatives. This edition had a pool of funds for the projects of PLN 18,000, of which PLN 12,000 came from the Olivia Business Centre and PLN 6,000 from the City of Gdańsk Councillor from Oliwa Andrzej Stelmasiewicz. Soft projects (organisation of meetings, courses and workshops) and infrastructural projects, which will become an inherent part of the Oliwa cityscape, could apply for funding.

You’ve got it in Olivia. Take care of your car!

READ ENGLISH VERSION

Tires are the only parts of a car that are in direct contact with the road surface. For this reason, they play a very important role in ensuring not only comfort, but above all driving safety.

Why should I change my tyres seasonally?

Summer and winter tyres are made of rubber compounds with different properties. Winter tires, because we will put them on in a moment – those that retain the right softness and grip even at sub-zero temperatures. Remember that this type of tyre is not suitable for use in spring and summer. Why? They are too soft – high temperatures and higher speeds, developed when the roads are dry, cause the tread of such a tire to wear out disproportionately faster.

When to change your tyres?

It is not possible to give a binding date for replacing summer tyres with winter tyres – it all depends on the weather conditions. Experts recommend not waiting for the first snow. The optimal time to change your tyres is when the ambient temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius (on the plus side, it is about the daily average over several days). In such conditions, summer tyres start to lose their properties. It has been proven that the majority of accidents in autumn and winter are caused not on wet, snowy and icy roads, but on dry and seemingly safe roads, with temperatures a few degrees above zero. This is due to the fact that most drivers drive in such conditions on summer tyres that have lost their grip.

At Olivia, you can change tires/wheels on the spot

If you are Olivia’s Resident or her Guest, you can change your tires right here! On top of that, we have a promotional offer for you.

  • The offer applies only to customers who have not yet used the storage room.

A few words about ozonation, why is it worth it?

Ozonation of the car is one of the most effective methods of disinfection. Ozonation kills: fungi, spores, molds, mites, viruses, all spore forms. Ozone removes all odours (e.g. cigarette smoke, mustiness, sweat, animal odours, cleaning product odours) rather than masking them. In addition, it decomposes into the oxygen we breathe – so it is ecological.

Welcome!
