The first mobile walk-thru test center in Poland financed by Olivia

Thanks to the mobile testing center, free coronavirus testing can be done in a walk-thru formula, coming on foot or using means of transport other than a car. This is the first point of this type in Poland prepared for the general collection of swabs for Covid-19 tests. The module was financed by the Olivia Business Centre and handed over to the University Clinical Centre. The Pomeranian Voivode, Dariusz Drelich, financed the necessary equipment and personal protective equipment. The launch of the point was possible thanks to the support of the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, the Medical University of Gdańsk, the City of Gdańsk and the Rector of the University of Gdańsk.

In the era of the pandemic, we are looking for solutions that will allow us to test as many potentially infected Sars-CoV-2 patients as possible. Thanks to the MediMod diagnostic module, the swab can be taken virtually anywhere. The module was financed by the Olivia Business Centre and handed over to the University Clinical Centre. The design of MediMod allows for the provision of several zones inside the swab and an airlock for collecting material, limiting the contact between the swab taker and the examined person to the necessary minimum. The applied solutions ensure the safety of medical staff and patients. The MediMod diagnostic module, built by VIVIA NEXT, is a self-sufficient research unit, so it can be set up anywhere and does not need an external media source. It has been equipped with autonomous sanitary and social facilities. It has a high-quality mechanical ventilation system with a dedicated system for dividing into vacuum and overpressure zones along with HEPA filters. The technology allows for any change in the function of the facility at a later date and its multiple use, as well as its relocation to a new place, where there will be an increased need for testing, which means that it is also one of the most environmentally friendly construction solutions. The facility was delivered from the factory equipped on a turnkey basis, so it could be used immediately after installation on site.

– Thanks to MediMod, people who are not motorized, which was the condition at drive-thru points, can also be tested for Covid-19 in a safe and quick way. The diagnostic module located in the city centre responds to our needs for more efficient diagnostics organisation. I am very grateful to Olivia Business Centre, thanks to which we can use this innovative solution – says Jakub Kraszewski, Chief Executive Officer of UCK.

“We have already performed over 30,000 tests in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Each Covid-19 diagnostic centre is expanding its capacity in this area. Today, we are further enhancing our diagnostic capabilities. I am glad that we are opening a collection point also aimed at non-motorized people. All five Covid-19 Diagnostic Centres (in Gdynia, two in Gdańsk, Słupsk and Chojnice) are perfectly prepared for sampling. We also invite residents of the neighbouring provinces: Kuyavian-Pomeranian and West Pomeranian Voivodeships – adds Dariusz Drelich, Pomeranian Voivode.

The module was erected on the premises of the University of Gdańsk at ul. Jana Bażyńskiego 4 in Gdańsk (at the entrance gate next to the Faculty of Social Sciences). It was made available to patients on May 18, 2020.

“The first walk-thru test point in Poland, located at the University of Gdańsk, is a very important and necessary initiative that will facilitate diagnostics for Covid-19. The university’s campus in Gdańsk Oliwa is a well-connected place, next to the main thoroughfare of Gdańsk, close to public transport stops and a bicycle path. Patients qualified for the study will easily find their way here. From the very beginning, the University of Gdańsk has been involved in initiatives to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. We are glad to be a part of such a valuable undertaking -Stresses Prof. Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała, Rector of the University of Gdansk.

The launch of this unique test point would not have been possible without the support of the Pomeranian Voivode, the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station and students of the Medical University of Gdańsk.

– The Pomeranian State Provincial Sanitary Inspector very positively evaluates and supports the initiative to create another mobile emergency room in Gdańsk. Examples of well-functioning drive-thru points in Gdynia, Gdańsk and Słupsk have proven that such a solution allows to speed up the collection of material for molecular testing and significantly contributes to reducing the risk of infection among other patients by relieving the routine work of hospital emergency rooms. The extension of the formula to include the possibility of taking swabs from non-motorized persons is another improvement in this respect – explains Tomasz Augustyniak, Director of the WSEZ in Gdańsk. – The Pomeranian State Provincial Sanitary Inspector is responsible for supporting the qualification of patients for the test, as well as for supervising the process of conducting molecular tests in the laboratories of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

“The walk-thru test center is another valuable initiative that was created thanks to the involvement of m.in. employees and students of the Medical University of Gdansk, the University Clinical Center in Gdansk and the Institute of Marine and Tropical Medicine in Gdynia. This innovative solution is another step towards us controlling the epidemic in our region. Says Prof. Marcin Gruchała, Rector of the MUG.

Similarly to the test centre at the Energa Gdańsk Stadium, the coordinator of the whole is the University Clinical Centre. Security is supervised by the Territorial Defense Forces.

“We have joined forces of the voivode, universities, private business and the city of Gdańsk for the best possible purpose. These two initiatives in Gdańsk, at the drive-thru stadium and at the University of Gdańsk, show that more can be done by working together. We are the second region in Poland to test so much and it brings results. Don’t be afraid to get tested, the more you know about the disease, the better it is for you and your environment. sums up Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of the City of Gdansk.

Indications for the test

People who have a fever above 38°C and a cough, observe a loss of taste and smell or suspect that they may have contracted the coronavirus should come in for the test. Before the sample is taken, patients are identified on the basis of an identity document with a PESEL number. The swab is normally taken from the nasopharynx and sent to the WSEZ in Gdańsk by courier. Molecular tests are performed using the RT-PCR method. The patient returns home and is informed about the results by phone by the WSEZ.

Registration & Opening Hours

The tests are performed after prior telephone registration. On the basis of the answers to the questions asked, the registrars qualify the patient for a free examination.

The MediMod test point at the University of Gdańsk operates from Monday to Friday at 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 10.00-13.00. You can register by calling 58 727 05 05 (after connecting to the hotline, dial the extension number provided) from Monday to Friday from 12.00 to 15.00, on weekends from 12.00 to 15.00. 9.00-12.00.

We tested eco-bags at the Market Square in Oliva

The market in Oliwa is unique. Together with the City Initiative, on 16 May, we tested and promoted eco-bags there. Buyers, among whom there was no shortage of Olivians, could fill the edges with everything that was delicious and healthy, coming directly from the producers. Here is our short photo report from the Saturday market in Oliwa. Read our journal of Reconstruction. Soon, in our series “Olive Oil You Don’t Know” we will tell you (in a film) about this amazing place.

A business rollercoaster. When a Crisis Turns Into a Success

“Sometimes you have to survive a disaster to get back on track.”

Jack Welch, legendary CEO of General Electric

We invite you to a new series of webinars “Business Rollercoaster”. Twice a month, on Thursday at 5:00 p.m., we will talk to people who have achieved success. Understood in many ways – in business, sports, in personal life… Success is something different for each of us. Overcoming one’s own weaknesses, changing the way of thinking, implementing an original project, opening or running a company… Success has many faces and we will try to discover them together with our guests.

The first is Antonio Arcieri, an award-winning chef and close collaborator of Paco Pérez. Of Italian origin, Spanish by passion. He considers humility, readiness to work hard and respect for nature, which is the supplier of the best ingredients, to be the most important qualities of a chef. In 2016, he became the head chef of the restaurant founded by Paco Pérez, with which he won his first Michelin star a year later. Today, he runs the Arco by Paco Pérez restaurant in Gdańsk in Olivia Star.

We will try to find out where Antonio Arcieri gets his inspiration from? What does he consider to be his greatest success? Does he think it’s possible to make friends with failure and can it drive us? What is the biggest enemy of motivation and is it possible to draw positive energy from a crisis?

Indeed, we may be surprised at how many famous people owe their success to crisis and failure. Here are a few of them:

  • Thomas Edison tried close to 10,000 times before inventing the light bulb. When he finally succeeded, he said, I didn’t fail. I just found 10,000 wrong solutions.”
  • Abraham Lincoln , before becoming president of the United States, lost elections 5 times.
  • Jack Ma , the founder of Alibaba, didn’t get a job in 30 places, not even at KFC.
  • Walt Disney looked for a sponsor more than 300 times before opening Disneyland, and his “Snow White” nearly bankrupted him before it was a huge success (it’s still a cult classic today).
  • Steve Jobs was fired from Apple, and it’s hard to imagine how the company’s fortunes would have turned out if he hadn’t been rehired.
  • Winston Churchill, before he became Prime Minister of Great Britain (he was 62 years old at the time!), lost many elections in order to get into Parliament.
  • The oldest jewellery brand in Poland – W.Kruk – has gone through a serious crisis. Ania Kruk and Wojtek Since 2012, Kruk has been writing the history of the company… afresh.

The examples could be multiplied. We invite you on May 21 at 5:00 p.m. on Olivia’s Facebook page and we believe that it will be an extremely inspiring meeting. The first in a series.

The webinar with Antonio Arcieri will be held in English!

The host of our series is Hamish Potts, a native British, Resident Relations at Olivia Business Centre, whom you could meet during our English lessons. Hamish has been living in Poland since 2006, and last year he took two important steps in his life; moving from Warsaw to the Tri-City and gaining Polish citizenship!

  • The oldest jewelry brand in Poland – W.Kruk – underwent a serious crisis. Ania Kruk and Wojtek Kruk have been writing the history of the company since 2012 … again.

There are multiple further examples.

We invite you to join us on May 21st at 17:00, Olivia’s Facebook and we believe that it will be an extremely inspiring meeting. Hopefully the first of many!

12 images. Bąkowski and Fruczek in Olivia Star!

12 paintings – Bąkowski/ Fruczek, part II 4 is another joint exhibition of Łukasz Fruczek and Piotr Bąkowski. You can watch it in Olivia Star. This time, the Tri-City artists present 6 works each, which are mainly inspired by the urban and industrial fabric of the city.

– Each of us tries to capture the moments, processes, places and atmosphere that interests us and to capture them in the image, interpreting them in our own, more or less literal way. – says Łukasz Fruczek.

You can see the exhibition until July 2 in the lobby of Olivia Star!

LUKASZ FRUCZEK
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts, majoring in Painting in the studios of prof. Henryk Cześnik and prof. Hugo Lasecki. He defended his diploma in painting with distinction in the studio of prof. Hugo Lasecki in 2001. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He lives and works in Sopot.

Łukasz Fruczek’s paintings are characterized by an interesting style. They are geometric, textured, often monochromatic, with a single-colored, strong accent. Fruczek bites into the structure of the paint and reactivates such archaic concepts as “stain” or “structure”. It is the painting of the matter of our times. As the basis for most of his works, Fruczek uses fragments of grey paper, old newspapers, yellowed sheets of sheet music. However, the artist chooses individual motifs and adapts them to the character of the work as a whole.

PIOTR BĄKOWSKI
A graduate of the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. He defended his diploma (painting) with honours in 2001 in the studio of prof. Hugo Lasecki; annex (drawing) – in the AD studio. II degree Maria Targońska. Specializations: printmaking, screen printing, wall painting. Bąkowski uses a repertoire of means typical of the city’s art: graffiti, stencils, sprays and stickers. His canvases are visual collages of elements that we can observe every day while walking down the street, especially when it runs through a block of flats. The second element used in Bąkowski’s collages is a set typical of street advertising: fonts, silhouettes and slogans present on billboards, signboards and neon signs.

WE INVITE YOU TOGETHER WITH THE ARTISTS!

We collect remedies for boredom!

WE COLLECT CURES FOR BOREDOM! :)If you are doing Christmas shopping and cleaning, please think about our fundraiser for the Polanki Children’s Hospital. We are trying to stock the day-care center in the hospital, because you know, children in such a facility are often bored… So, let’s add some extra crayons, felt-tip pens, a packet of modeling clay or plasticine, a drawing pad, a coloring book, a cut-out… Maybe you have one at home? You won’t even have to go to the store:) Just one! If each of us does, there will be plenty of them!

See if there is a book on the bookshelf – a book for toddlers – that your children no longer read, or maybe you have an educational game that they no longer use?

In our reception desks, under the Christmas trees, there are boxes where you can throw something colorful in the morning, on your way to work. WELCOME! AND THANK YOU FOR EVERY GESTURE!

They came, they ran, and they won. We talk to AirHelp’s Resident Cup winners

They came and won, but, as they emphasize, the 34 floors turned out to be a great challenge, which probably surprised many debutants. In the Olivia Business Centre Residents’ Cup, organized for the second time, the only sure thing was the great emotions that accompanied the 3-person teams both on the route and on the podium of the Star Challenge. “The most important thing is that our success ignites other teams. Just look at us – we had a lot of fun and together we had the opportunity to help blind children from Sobieszewo – Ariadna, Jan and Jakub, competitors of the AirHelp relay race, which was second to none this year, unanimously sum up the race.

Such a relay team was a well-thought-out way to win AirHelp?

Jan: A company’s top-secret recipe for success (laughs). Seriously, it was our debut. Similarly individually, because none of us has ever taken part in a race up the stairs. From the viewer’s perspective, it looks completely different than when it happens at the start. Excitement and cool experience guaranteed!

What convinced you to participate?

Ariadna: I really like running in the mountains, so I treated the stairs in Olivia Star as the best substitute (laughs). And with a pretty good result, because I covered 34 floors in 6 minutes.

Jan: I was 6:40 a.m.

Jakub: I succeeded in 4:59.

Did you have a common training plan and strategy?

Ariadna: In my case, the Star Challenge turned out to be a test for what I do every day. I regularly run and train in the gym 6 days a week, so it seemed to me that this base would be enough for a race. On the other hand, I admit that I didn’t really know what it was like – I was making my debut on the stairs, so my predictions were purely theoretical. I think that many runners don’t treat the stair race as a typical element of the season for which they always have a plan. Of course, it’s different in the case of professional towerrunners, but they came to Olivia to compete with each other.

Jan: It was very similar with me – I took part in the Star Challenge spontaneously, knowing that systematic running 2 times a week is a significant element that will allow you to finish the competition.

Jakub: I’m classically. In the spring and summer I ran much more, and I treated the autumn as a time to rest. As a result, I started a bit on the march, rather at the peak of detraining (laughs).

On the march, having the best time!

Jakub: I’ve been working on my fitness for the last few years and it turned out that my form allowed me to achieve a very decent time.

A cup unlike any other surprised you?

Jakub: It’s very original!

Jakub: I have to admit that he is very creative! When I looked at it just before the start, at first glance it seemed to be an art installation. It didn’t occur to me at all that this is the trophy we are fighting for, because looking at the cups we were wondering where the one for the Residents was (laughs). It wasn’t until we received the award that we found out how amazing it is, how unique it is, and how much artistic value it has. We are very proud to be standing at the focal point of the reception at AirHelp!

Were there moments of doubt along the way? On which floor did the crisis appear?

Jakub: No, there wasn’t a moment when I felt it was better to let go.

Jan: On the 6th floor, I realized that I had to go for a fast walk, otherwise I wouldn’t survive. When I made my debut in running up the stairs, I had no idea that it was a different kind of effort than on the flat. The division is demanding, and the lack of planning of the entire route quickly makes itself felt. I didn’t know that professionals start with brisk walking and gradually move to running. It seemed so obvious to me that if you run, you run!

The finish line seemed very high?

Jan: Reality versus imagination (laughs). It doesn’t matter if we count the stairs and floors if we don’t know how the body will react. Around the 6th floor, I felt that it was not easy – when running in the stairwell you have to breathe completely differently and be aware that there is no air circulation here, which causes very quick fatigue of hypoxic muscles.

Jakub: I was glad that there were handrails. I saw how they were supported by the competitors who started in front of me. It turned out that the best towerrunners know how to use their hands.

Have you fallen in love with towerrunning?

Ariadna: If there is a possibility to start next year, I’m applying now! A fantastic adventure.

Jakub: I don’t know! If there was an opportunity, probably yes, but to completely put stair running as a sporting goal, probably not.

Did it take you a long time to persuade to participate in the Residents’ Cup?

Ariadne: When I heard that we could start, I said, great, let’s do it!

Jan: Me too!

Jakub: When our captain approached me and asked if I would run, I immediately replied why not! The initiative is very fine, and with a charitable purpose, so what more do you need?

Do you promise to defend your title?

Ariadne: We’ll try!

Jan: If there is such a possibility, why not! The most important thing is that our success ignites the next teams that will take part in the competition. Just look at us – we had a great time, together we had the opportunity to help children from Sobieszewo, and the title of the best relay race. A bomb for me!

“A healthy mind in a healthy body” has been saying for centuries and we are not going to argue with this truth. Last year, we launched the Olivia Sports project, addressed to all those working at Olivia Business Centre. We want to integrate our m.in community. through the development of common passions, including those for a healthy lifestyle.

What are we proposing this year?

Almost everything you want to do together! We play football and volleyball (in the summer in the beach version). We offer Nordic walking classes, professional cycling trainings and family “light” bicycle trips. You can also learn with us… dance. The running coach with OBC, because we practice this discipline together, is the most recognizable Polish extreme marathon runner, Piotr Suchenia, who has triumphs at both poles in his achievements. The World Team Champion from Perth is a certified athletics coach and a popular blogger. She has a great contact with people, she can motivate and ignite to action, which is one of the reasons why Team Olivia completed the route of the Gdańsk Half Marathon!

– We adapt our offer to the needs signaled to us and, of course, to the seasons of the year. In winter, we go ice swimming, climbing , and in the sailing season, from spring to autumn, we sail. With us, you can get a yacht sailor’s license, go on a cruise or take part in a regatta. Now, together with Ring3city, we are preparing several dozen boxers to participate in the Charity White Collar Boxing Gala, which will take place in March at Olivia Star – says Maciej Olszewski, Olivia Sports project manager.

What is still to come?

– We are planning meetings with sports champions and specialists in the field of dietetics and health. We also want to support our Residents in preparing for participation in selected sports events, organize their own tournaments, as well as plan joint outings, e.g. to basketball matches – adds Maciej Olszewski.

Doctors, nurses, medical services, but also many other people are fighting the coronavirus epidemic every day, often exposing themselves to infection and communing with those potentially at risk. To thank them, every day at 9.00 p.m. we light up a big red heart on the Olivia Star building in Olivia Business Centre in Gdańsk.

Those who are dedicated to people need to feel our support, that we appreciate what they do, that we are grateful to them. They need to feel it not only today or tomorrow – we need to remember them for weeks to come. That is why we have addressed an appeal to all hotels, office buildings, but also to each of us, #zostańwdomu #pokażsercebohaterom #pokażserce #pokażimserce. It is also an appeal for unity in this difficult period.

The heart has already shone in Gdynia and at the Sky Tower in Wrocław, in Mercure Gdynia Centrum and Mercure Gdańsk Stare Miasto. Thank you and we encourage you to join our #pokazserce campaign.
