Olivia Quest – much more than a game that integrates the community

Building an active community still gives office centre operators sleepless nights, while unconventional and consistently implemented activities lead to success. Olivia Quest has just ended: a game that engaged nearly 650 players from 80 companies.

The game was open to all people who work in Olivia Centre in Gdańsk, the largest office centre in Poland. Olivia Quest was a project that lasted 3 weeks and consisted of taking up various challenges and solving puzzles leading to guessing the master password. As many as 645 players took part in the competition, of which 38 people competed for the win in the finals. The winner was Filip Smurawa from Capgemini. Every day, throughout the game, the players had to try to guess the password of the day, to which the tasks scattered throughout the business center led them. All of them were a hint of the main password, for which a financial prize of PLN 1000 awaited the winner.

As Filip Smurawa admits, at first he was not interested in participating in the competition, but it was his colleagues who motivated him to finally try his hand: The initial slogans were relatively simple and this is why the game did not arouse my interest at the beginning. I was mainly inspired to participate by my colleagues from Capgemini and, inspired by their attempts to guess the next passwords, after three or four days I joined the fun. With the following days, the level of difficulty grew, and with it my curiosity. Quite quickly, we came up with the main entry, which undoubtedly helped with the auxiliary entries that led us to the final of the competition.

Maciej Olszewski, director of Olivia’s Communication Department, emphasizes that initiating this type of action is not only satisfaction, but also great fun for the whole team: Once again, the effects of the project proposed to tenants exceeded our expectations. This was the first time we had prepared such a game, so at first we didn’t know how our residents’ employees would receive it, and the numbers are astonishing: the participants made 32,845 attempts to guess the word of the day, and one of the words got a record 1,386 attempts. In one of the companies, as many as 63 players took part in the game, who were puzzled over the slogans we entered. These data show that it is worth implementing such projects, so this edition of Olivia Quest will certainly not be the only one. We hope that in the next editions more participants will join the fun. –Adds. The project was carried out in cooperation with O4 Coworking, from the conceptual side to implementation. This shows that the best ideas are the fruit of joint work.

Since its inception, Olivia Centre has been consistently developing the idea of creating a community in its area. On a daily basis, this group is concentrated in numerous interest clubs, bringing together lovers of photography, creating and editing films, plant care, sports clubs (football, cross-country running, volleyball or sailing), but also in such unique projects as the Olivia Centre Choir, which has a number of performances behind it, released its first album, and in recent weeks gave its first commercial concert, for which tickets were sold out long before the event. The legitimacy of the existence of a close-knit and active community was also confirmed in such exceptional periods as the pandemic or the beginning of the war in Ukraine, when employees of companies from Olivia collected computers for children during remote learning, did shopping for seniors and people in need, or organized a collection of the most urgently needed gifts for those fighting at the front and everything needed by war refugees arriving in Polish. On a daily basis, Olivia’s employees organize blood donations and work for animal shelters, and numerous initiatives allow them to integrate, exchange ideas and inspire the development of new interest clubs.

This is a great value of our project, which is important in recruitment, and even more so as a motivational factor that allows us to retain employees and contribute to higher attendance at work. – says Bogusław Wieczorek, representative of Olivia Centre. The research conducted by us shows that on days when additional events are organized in our centre, the attendance in offices is higher than on days when there are no such initiatives, and this is confirmed by the employees themselves: 64% of respondents make the date of coming to the office dependent on the schedule of additional activities that await them in Olivia Centre. 12% of office employees actively use our offer, and another 12% declare their willingness to join in the near future. These are hard figures, reflecting current trends in work and giving us a basis for developing these projects in the future.

Be ECO with Edyta! Test the machine for the earth!

We invite you to our patio on May 15. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the amazing Edyta Bieniasz-Krzywiec from Bayer (
winner of the Olivia Prize in the Eco category
!) will present the fantastic Machine for the Planet!
You can approach, ask, test, learn everything about how to recycle plastic into everyday objects at home (wow), e.g. combs and buttons.

The event is part of a larger project dedicated to Bayer employees and their families, called Eco Family Days. This is the second edition of EFD organized by the Bayer community, WeCharity and EcoFriends to inspire and encourage people to live in the spirit of ECO.

What’s on the agenda?

Edyta’s team will present (and promote, of course!) the production of everyday objects from materials obtained as part of the HOME circular economy. Of course, with particular emphasis on plastics and bio-waste.

There will also be a mini-workshop (not only for children) with a demonstration of techniques for forming waste plastic using a mobile injection molding machine powered by green energy and creating objects from bio-plastic formed from homemade biomass. You can try to create such a comb or a super button.

And there will be useful advice from our experts on: your own composter and eco-compost for your own use or the pH of the soil.

There will be interesting materials to take!

WE INVITE YOU TOGETHER WITH OUR RESIDENT, BAYER

Let’s make Olivia green!

Dear Residents,

As you know, on May 13 we are starting the reconstruction of our patio. We are greening Olivia. For you. We create a wooded space, full of grass and flowers, where you will be able to rest, relax and delight. The project is large, its implementation takes time, so we divided the work into stages.

The first one includes the development of the area between the Olivia Star building and Olivia Six, which will allow us to create a new, functional outdoor space. The works will take several weeks and we will be able to enjoy the refreshed part of the patio in the summer.

We make every effort to ensure that everything runs smoothly and does not interfere with all everyday functioning in Olivia. Access to the revolving door from the Olivia Six side will be provided throughout the duration of our works.

Below we present a visualization of the space after the reconstruction.
Here you will find a plan with an indication of the place where the work will be carried out
(marked in green).

Green Power! Keep your fingers crossed!

Olivia Quest. Game Over!

Breaking news… You’ve finished the game master. We’ll sum up all the fun in a moment, but today we’re letting you know that as many as 58 daredevils made it to the finals. 645 players took part in Olivia Quest!

The Grand Finale will take place on April 25 at 11:00 a.m. at O4 Coworking,
And there can only be one winner!

We keep our fingers crossed!

Shanty concerts overlooking the sea but 130 meters above the ground

Shanty concerts with a view of the sea are most often associated with small seaside bars or performances at festivals organized in summer resorts. Meanwhile, Olivia Centre shows that sea shanties are also perfect for a business centre 130 metres above sea level. The view of the Bay of Gdansk, the breeze of the sea and the perfect atmosphere are important, and there is no shortage of them in Olivia.

“From the very beginning, the assumption was that the concerts would be cyclical ,” says Marek Chwal, guitarist, vocalist, composer and songwriter of the band “Trzy majtki”, which regularly performs on the 32nd floor of Olivia Star. – MThe place is beautiful, offers a wonderful panorama of the Tri-City, as well as a view of the bay. Songs about the sea sound exceptionally pleasant in such an environment. We have been playing on the 32nd floor for over 1.5 years now and I believe that we fit in well with this place, because the audience is growing from concert to concert. We have regulars, but also practically every time there is someone new. Our music is not a classic shanty. It’s more of a very contemporary sea song. Those who visit us for the first time are often surprised by the spontaneity, jumpiness and energy we give. Regularly, at every concert, the audience gets excited to have fun and dance. It also gives us a lot of satisfaction when we see such a spontaneous and joyful reaction.

The team consists of shanties enthusiasts, who are very busy on a daily basis. One of the “Briefs”, Marek Chwal, works at Oliviai Centre as a Senior Project Manager at Epam Systems. Music is a springboard and quite an intense hobby for them, as the band plays concerts all over Poland and sometimes abroad in the summer season. He has just started working on his third album, which, surprisingly, is being recorded at the Olivia Centre. – Olivia is a perfect combination of business and maritime passions – emphasizes Maciej Kotarski from Olivia Centre. – In Olivia Yacht Club there are several sailing formats, available to Residents throughout the year, and from April to October even several options per week. All of this is very popular among the Residents, and the monthly shanty concerts are a brilliant development of the club’s activities. During concerts, the 32nd floor turns into our harbour club pub. We regularly attend these concerts, usually the whole crew from a given cruise comes. Last but not least, “Three Panties” really sound great, and their original songs are the best, especially since they directly refer to our close environment, for example Sopot fishermen. It’s an honour that we can support them by providing a place to record an album and that they have become our olive band! This is the second music band operating in Olivia, together with the Olivia Centre Choir!

As Marek Chwal emphasizes, combining professional work and recording an album is not an easy task. – The work is laborious, mainly because we often can’t agree on a common date for recordings. Nevertheless, we are slowly moving forward. The album will be fully original. The lyrics are mainly written by Edward Hańcza, but there will also be a piece by Łukasz Jabłoński. There will also be adaptations of well-known English-language songs, not necessarily shanties, but with their own Polish, maritime lyrics. We want everyone to find something for themselves. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Olivia Centre for providing us with the studio space. This is a great comfort for us. We don’t want to make a clear statement about the date of “launching” the album, but we hope that it will be possible before the summer, and if not, then certainly in the autumn. And of course, we will celebrate this occasion together with our audience at many concerts. Definitely also in Olivia 32 p. We will play a concert promoting the new album.

Shanty concerts are another unconventional cultural and entertainment project that is carried out at the Olivia Centre. A big surprise may be the fact that every Friday on 32 p. Olivia Star, the highest office building in northern Polish, hosts discos, attracting a permanent group of lovers of good music, stunning views and delicious cuisine late in the evening. Olivia also has an outdoor terrace where DJ parties were organized, which in the glow of the setting sun gave an incomparable effect. Olivia’s openness to tourists and residents is also evidenced by the award of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, awarded to Olivia on the occasion of the International Tourism Day in 2020. So far, it has been the only award that has been granted to office buildings for the development of the tourist offer of a given region. The largest Polish business centre already has in its portfolio theatre performances and concerts of such stars of the Polish stage as Krystyna Janda, Leszek Możdżer, Daria Zawiałow, Mrozu and Krzysztof Zalewski. Over 1700 events take place annually in Olivia, so it can be considered that it has become the center of not only work, but also the cultural and entertainment life of the Tri-City.

It is worth noting that Olivia has been a project that has been developed for years with the residents of the entire agglomeration and tourists in mind. This is also evidenced by

Olivia Garden

– an exotic garden where 3.5 thousand people are waiting for guests. plants reaching up to 11 meters in height, representing more than 400 species and coming from 5 continents. There are 11 restaurants in Olivia, including
Arco by Paco Perez
and
Treinta y Tres,
located on the 33rd floor of Olivia Star. Both prestigious restaurants are run by Paco Pérez, one of the most successful chefs in the world, so far awarded 5 stars by the prestigious Michelin culinary guide, and Antonio Arcieri, winner of one star.

Let’s do it!

Bayer office inspired by Design Anatomy’s Olive Oil

The office of one of the oldest residents of Olivia Centre has undergone a metamorphosis. Adapted to the latest trends, the
Bayer Group’s
office was created in the spirit of less waste and is based on a new workspace strategy applicable throughout the group. Design Anatomy

, whose portfolio includes over 200,000 euros, is responsible for the project. m.kw. designed and finished office spaces. Bayer has recently celebrated its tenth anniversary at the Olivia Centre. It’s one of the longest-standing companies here, so it’s time to completely change the interiors in line with current trends.

“Our common goal was to adapt the premises to the changing needs and expectations of our employees ,” says Anna Branicka, lead architect at Design Anatomy. – The project was implemented as part of Bayer’s Next Normal Office Concept. Based on it, we have introduced numerous changes in the functionality of the office, maintaining the existing layout of walls and ceilings. It was important to us that the implementation was carried out in the spirit of less waste, thanks to which we were able to optimize the costs of modernization.

The open space has been divided into smaller, more intimate zones, which is conducive to effective communication and cooperation between employees. Private offices have been redesigned in favor of more flexible and accessible spaces that are conducive to various forms of work and relaxation. The newly designed spaces include quiet work rooms, relax rooms providing a place to relax and recharge batteries, and snooze rooms allowing employees to take a short nap during the day. All this to improve the comfort of work, concentration and productivity of employees.

At the same time, the offices have gained a completely new style. The main theme of the project are references to Oliwa, the historic district of Gdańsk where the Olivia Centre is located. A range of warm reds and greens refers to the surrounding landscape. We made sure that there were a lot of plants in specially designed pots and even in the walls of acoustic booths – says Barbara Wasilewska, architect at Design Anatomy. – We have introduced many solutions to improve the comfort of work: wall panels and openwork partitions, separating individual work zones, carpets with high acoustic parameters. The restaurant has become more flexible and user-friendly. We are glad that we were able to be part of the process of change taking place, which reflects the business dynamics and the beauty of the world around us. It was a great challenge for us.

“Bayer’s new office not only implements new trends, but has also become an exemplary solution that arouses great interest among other tenants of our centre ,” says Maciej Kotarski from Olivia Centre. – On a regular basis, during sales talks, we visit this office, showing how creative and designer a modernly designed office space can look. It arouses universal admiration and is often a contribution to putting conversations on a new track.
