This time our guest will be Maciej Kosycarz – photojournalist, publisher of a series of albums from the series Fig. Reaper: How to take extraordinary ordinary photos.

In the program m.in. a conversation with a guest and a presentation of unknown photos from Oliwa, describing the history of people living here and places that are dynamically changing before our eyes, as well as a colourful history of Gdańsk and Pomerania from the archive of Zbigniew and Maciej Kosycar. The meeting will be moderated by Monika Bogdanowicz (Olivia Business Centre).

Olivia Cooltura is an interdisciplinary project of Olivia Business Centre, dedicated to the promotion and popularization of culture in its entirety. We want to gather people interested in artistic and cultural events around Olivia Business Centre. Residents of OBC, residents of Oliwa and, more broadly, the entire metropolis. To integrate our community, build and develop relationships. Every year, more than 300 events are held at OBC, some of which are open to all residents of the Tri-City.

Zbigniew Kosycarz (1925–1995) was one of the most popular figures of the Gdańsk Coast. He came to Gdańsk in 1945, initially settled in Sopot, worked in Gdynia newspaper editorial offices and from the very first days created a photographic chronicle of the region. He was referred to as the “flying reporter”. No event could take place without his participation. He also documented everyday life, never parting with his camera. Although throughout his professional life he was associated with the Gdańsk daily “Głos Wybrzeże”, he also published in many other publishing houses. Press photography became not only a job for him, but also a lifelong hobby. Of the many awards and distinctions he received, he valued the title of “Gdańsk Citizen of the Year 1972” received by the readers of “Wieczor Wybrzeże” (Evening of the Coast). Since 1997, the Pomeranian Press Photography Competition Gdańsk Press Photo has been organized in his name.

Maciej Kosycarz (born in 1964), a graduate of the University of Gdańsk. Author of several thousand photographs published in the press. He has been professionally involved in photography since 1990. Initially, he appeared mainly in Kashubian magazines such as “Nasz Tygodnik” and “Tygodnik Wieczor”, and then in “Głos Wybrzeże”. In May 1996 he founded the Kosycarz Foto Press KFP photo agency, continuing his father’s work. KFP’s clients include over 100 Polish and foreign titles and press agencies. He has presented his photographs at several exhibitions and has also published twenty photo albums. In 2001 he prepared the exhibition “Ordinary City – Gdańsk through the lens of father and son”, which could be seen in Budapest, Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Belgrade, Gdańsk, Kalmar (Sweden), Holbaek (Denmark) and Kaliningrad (Russia). Since 1997 he has been a co-organizer of the Pomeranian Press Photography Competition Gdańsk Press Photo. Zbigniew Kosycarz. His agency’s archive has more than 640,000 images available on the www.kfp.pl’s website, which are updated daily. It is currently the largest local photo service in Poland. Like his father, he considers the title of “Gdańsk Citizen of the Year 2009” awarded to him by the residents to be the greatest distinction he has received in his life. Winner of the Pomeranian Artistic Award for 2010 awarded by the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the award of the Pomeranian Voivode Sint Sua Praemia Laudi in the category of culture for 2014. In 2009, the Gdańsk City Council awarded the city’s chroniclers, Zbigniew and Maciej Kosycarz, with the Mściwoj II Medal for their lifetime achievements.

On Monday evening, on the 20^th of February, another meeting in the scope of Olivia Cooltura project took place. OBC was hosting a famous photojournalist from Gdańsk – Maciej Kosycarz. His extraordinarily vibrant personality, charisma and unusual aptitude for telling stories – captured on the photos of his father, Zbigniew Kosycarz, and his own photographs – made this meeting memorable for a large number of guests who gathered in Olivia Sky Club.

Maciej Kosycarz is a person who is known by the majority of people from Gdańsk. He can be boldly deemed as a “Man: cultural institution of Gdańsk”, but he prefers to introduce himself as a “Son of his own father”. It is because of huge respect for his father Zbigniew and his professional achievements, the salvaging of which became Maciej’s life mission. He is most of all a chronicler of changes occurring in our reality and tradition, who captures – with the help of his camera – constant and persistent things, as well as the ones that are evanescent. What is more, he organises exhibitions and Pomeranian press photography contest “Gdańsk Press Photo”. In the course of last dozen years, he has issued twelve albums from the series “Fot. The Scythe”. On an everyday basis he is a photojournalist and the owner of Kosycarz Press Foto agency. Since last year, he has also been the co-owner of Galeria Sztuki Różnych (Gdańsk, Ogarna 101 Street).

The first part of the meeting was almost an hour-long conversation with Monika Bogdanowicz from Olivia Business Centre (the author of the project Olivia Cooltura). Maciej Kosycarz talked about how, from his early age, he had manifested entrepreneurial spirit and had been creatively developing his own, sometimes astonishing, business projects. In a hilarious way he shared with us his memories from youth and told a few words about his life of a photojournalist full of unique experiences. There was also some time for reflection on the development of media, new technologies and tools of communication which change the way we perceive photography. Kosycarz talked, among other things, about the influence of the above-mentioned factors on our “photo-behaviour” and the way we capture pictures every day. Our guest appealed to the audience to capture, in any form, their relatives and the immediate environment: places of residence, way to work, walking routes etc. Basing on his own experience, he described some meetings from the past, for example with the future Miss World Aneta Kręglicka and a musician and satirist Krzysztof Skiba.

The elusiveness of moments can be captured forever thanks to taking pictures of the things that are important for us or which we would like to pass to our loved ones or future generations.

In the second part of the meeting, Maciej Kosycarz presented his amazing collection of photos from his father archives – Zbigniew Kosycarz – as well as his own photos, which became a part of the history of Polish and global reportage. The screen in Olivia Sky presented a range of social, political and cultural situations, along with important historic events, such as the visit of Pope John Paul II in Oliwa, the president of the USA George Bush or Lechia Gdańsk vs. Juventus Turin football match.

In the final part, we could see unique photos from pre- and post-war Oliwa. It has been a district of Gdańsk for 90 years and its intensive economic development reached its height, especially in the last decade. In fact, though – taking into account the rich history of this place – Oliwa has always been a people-friendly place, open to the world and ready for new challenges. After all, in 60’s, in this area of Gdańsk there were built the highest blocks of flats and the biggest sport stadium.

The meeting ended, it could not have been otherwise, with the conversation with participants. There was also some time for photos and special dedications in Maciej Kosycarz’s albums.

We Lead, because no organisation exists without a team and a leader. The meeting is dedicated to all those who wish to create and develop responsible and committed teams. The speakers will tell us what’s important on the path to develop efficient organisations of the future, based on trust, where human beings are the superior value. They will lead us through the meanders of a turquoise organisation theory, show us what isn’t successful within such organisations and why, to leave the participants with a positive message that leader development is the first step towards developing an organisation of the future.

MONIKA ZUBRZYCKA-NOWAK

For many years, I have been accompanying people in developing their self-awareness, developed relations, responsibility for the quality of created life. As a coach and trainer, I have been watching the evolution process of beliefs – both on individual and team levels. Turquoise organisations may develop solely in conditions where people who develop them are prepared for it. I am willing to share my knowledge and experience leading to this preparedness.

JAKUB MARCHWICKI
An IT programmer for over ten years, an architect for several years, occasionally an analyst, a consultant – if required, a manager by choice, a trainer out of passion, a wannabe entrepreneur – out of his dreams, a leader of Java User Group in Gdańsk – there is a major chance that I don’t do well any of the above. But I keep trying… and I draw conclusions from my failures.

A passionate leader, a coach and mentor focused on Team development and their achievements, as the best way to accomplish goals. I want to share my experience with others on how to develop smart and efficient Teams in which communication is above all. My dream is that participating organisations, based on trust, collective intuition and wisdom, where people are the supreme value, replace all soul-less, process-based and bureaucratic structures. I believe that this is possible!

The Olivia Business Centre together with the Lewiatan Confederation invite to a workshop titled “EU funds 2014-2020 for entrepreneurs – chances, opportunities, methods to acquire”, to be held on 7 March, from 9.00 to 17:00, in the Focus Gdańsk Hotel (85 Elbląska Street). The workshop will be moderated by Małgorzata Janczarek and Małgorzata Józwik.

We invite to the workshop entrepreneurs who:

• Hold knowledge on the support principles and funding sources in 2014- 2020 and are looking for detailed information on the subject
• Have an idea for projects and are interested in drafting an application

During the workshop, the participant will find out about:

• innovation and possibilities of cooperation between science and business in the context of EU Funds;
• possibilities of EU Funds with respect to selected objectives of enterprises;
• planning and performance of selected project types;
• current competitions – financial support of development in selected types of economic operations with the support of Funds

At Olivia Business Centre, under the aegis and at the invitation of the Pomeranian Regional Chamber of Commerce, Pomeranian entrepreneurs and investors met today.

The meeting was opened by Sławomir Halbryt, President of the Management Board of RIGP. The topic “How to raise capital for development?” was discussed by Małgorzata Zaleska, President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, as One of the possibilities of financing the development strategy is by presenting the stock exchange. This is a form of redistribution and efficient allocation of capital. Investors with surplus capital can invest it in companies with significant growth potential.

The special guest of the event was Marek Rybiec, President of the Management Board of Skarbiec SA, who shared his m.in. his experience in financing the company’s development by means of a bank loan, equity cooperation with a private equity fund and the issue of securities.

The 7th edition of Transport Week – one of the biggest transport and logistics conference in Central Europe – will take place from 7th to 9th March in Gdańsk. This time, the event will be devoted to modern solutions in the scope of environment-friendly technologies in the maritime, port and logistics industries. Nearly 300 guests from nearly 100 companies and institutions localised in 21 countries announced their participation in the conference. They will listen to over 70 speakers who will take part in more than 50 speeches and 7 panel discussions.

The partner of 2017 Transport Week is the biggest business centre in northern Poland, Olivia Business Centre, which on the 8th March, under the motto “Hosting The World”, will host top European representatives of transport and logistics companies. On that day, at Olivia Sky Club, the Baltic Trendsetters Club Certificates award ceremony will take place. The awards are presented by the Baltic Transport Journal editorial board. Award winners are companies which drive the development of the Baltic Sea region and implement unique and bold projects which have a sustainable impact on logistics and transport industries.

At the Transport Week conference, the key representatives of the European transport sector, the biggest market players in the industry, investors and representatives of authorities, as well as experts met annually. Among the participants of the event there are the owners of shipping and container lines, ro/ro operators, port and terminal authorities, rail operators, as well as representatives of administrative offices in Poland and abroad along with the representatives of European transport and logistics organisations.

– In Gdańsk we have the biggest port investment in the Baltic Sea Region, that is why we are coming back to our marine transport roots.
