It could not have been otherwise, after all, it is in Olivia that the organizers of the conference, the infoShare Foundation, have their headquarters. There is also infoShare Academy, educating future programmers.

The Gdańsk event on 22 and 23 May will be visited by nearly 8,000 people from all over the world, according to the Organisers’ estimates. There are over 150 inspiring lectures on seven stages ahead of us, so we will have a solid dose of knowledge about the latest trends in IT, investing and marketing. International experts from m.in were invited to speak. from Microsoft, Google, Intel.

The main stage – the Inspire Stage – will belong to business practitioners. Among the speakers are m.in. “A record number of start-ups signed up to compete this year, as many as almost 500 from over 40 countries. Out of these less than half a thousand applications – which makes us very happy, because it strengthens the international prestige and rank of infoShare – 80 percent came from outside Polish. We have selected 20 start-ups for the finals of the competition, which will be decided in Gdańsk. There will be about 300 start-ups present on site,” Grezgorz Borowski, head of the infoShare Foundation, told PAP.

The venue of the infoShare 2018 conference is the Gdańsk International Fair AmberExpo. The two main days of the event are Tuesday and Wednesday. On Monday, workshops are planned, and on Thursday, for some of the participants, a cruise on the Bay of Gdańsk.

No Trace Expedition takes off from Olivia!

It takes courage to care for a better world! Meeting with Marek Kamiński before his No Trace Expedition on Monday in Olivia!

Marek Kamiński conquered both poles of the Earth and broke stereotypes, achieving it again with a disabled boy, he walked 4 thousand kilometers along the Trail of St. Mary. Jakuba, and now he is setting off from Gdańsk, with Olivia Business Centre, on another expedition, which will prove that it is possible to travel consciously and reach the most inaccessible corners of the world without leaving negative traces in the natural environment.

Marek Kamiński is one of the most popular Polish travelers, who has been traveling the world for years to change people’s attitudes and prove that limitations are primarily in our minds. Kamiński’s new project ” No Trace Expedition” focuses on the popularization of broadly understood electromobility. The expedition is to prove and make the public aware that an electric car, designed for cities, can travel long and difficult distances, drive off-road and at the same time have a positive impact on the environment, protecting it from harmful traces of human activity. The motto of the expedition is:Caring for a better world requires courage” – courage to change your habits, courage to reach for new technologies, courage to step out of your comfort zone, courage to do things that are still not very popular.

– No Trace Expedition is an electric car journey through the Kaliningrad Oblast, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Siberia, Mongolia, China and South Korea, all the way to Japan. It will be a journey through the two poles of the modern world, which, despite being so close to each other, differ in every respect – says Kamiński. ” The whole way of conducting the expedition, i.e. nutrition, clothes, power, activities, will be based on innovative technologies that save nature.

Kamiński’s means of transport will be the Nissan LEAF electric car , which many people associate mainly with short, urban trips. However, Kamiński wants to show that it is possible to travel the world using modern technologies while taking care of the natural environment.

“I hope that the expedition will inspire many people to live a sustainable, responsible lifestyle, including conscious travel. I would like to combine this idea with an innovative approach: Leave Trail, which is about leaving a mark, but not in nature, but in people’s minds. adds Marek Kamiński.

Start of the expedition

The traveller will set off from Gdańsk on 29 May to Kaliningrad, from which he had travelled to the opposite, western part of Europe – to Santiago de Compostela.

“I am glad that so many people understand how important it is to spread the idea of conscious travel in the spirit of No Trace. Without the great awareness of this problem and the support of companies such as Nissan, PKN Orlen and Invena S.A., it would have been impossible – sums up Marek Kamiński.

A press meeting preceding this unique expedition takes place
May 28 at 12:00 in Olivia Business Centre, where the Marek Kamiński Foundation has its headquarters.
An event open to the residents of the Tri-City with Marek Kamiński starts
the same at 14:00 on the patio of the Olivia business center.

No Trace Expedition

Marek Kamiński’s No Trace Expedition project will be implemented in May-July 2018. Kamiński will travel approximately. 13 thousand kilometers in an electric car. The whole way of conducting the expedition, i.e. nutrition, clothes, power, activities, was based on innovative technologies that save nature. The ideas and values of the project will be manifested through the use of: ecological food packaging, as well as organic food itself, water from a bottle with a filter, power supply in the form of solar-charged batteries, minimalist sets of clothes – nanoclothes that do not absorb odors, shoes constructed with ecology in mind, and a car that is a base for exploring the world, and at the same time containing ecological equipment for this exploration (e.g. a kayak made of cardboard, bicycle).

Through the No Trace Expedition project, Marek Kamiński wants to create a new standard of travel in accordance with the principles of nature, draw attention to the importance of development and education in the field of travel. Through his actions, the traveler wants to promote ecological, sustainable values and inspire more people to do impossible things.

It is an expedition supported by conscious institutions for which Corporate Social Responsibility is important, and their mission, as well as the goal of the expedition, is to take care of the natural environment and use new technologies in the service of nature.

Strategic partners of the project: Nissan, PKN Orlen, INVENA S.A.

Talent or effort? What allows us to succeed?

“Talent is a matter of luck. The most important thing in life is courage.” – says Woody Allen. What really determines our success – talent or effort? Does talent slow you down from hard work? What prevents us from achieving our goals? Are we born talented? How to develop your potential? This was recently discussed during a meeting at Olivia Business Centre by Dr. Konrad Bocian from SWPS University.
SWPS University is hosted in Olivia as part of the Olivia Cooltura series. In Olivia, we talk about things that are important, passionate, inspiring, interesting… With people who want to change the world. He tried to answer the difficult question of what is more important in achieving success: talent or effort Konrad Bocian, PhD, social psychologist, lecturer at the Sopot Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities University, scientist, science journalist writing for “Newsweek Nauka”, “Newsweek Psychologia”, Focus Coaching”, scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science, exploring the secrets of human morality on a daily basis.

Monika Bogdanowicz from Olivia talked to our guest m.in. about the myth of talent and whether achieving success depends on luck and intelligence or rather on consistency and perseverance. The conclusions of the meeting will certainly help the audience identify the main obstacles that prevent them from achieving their goals. And face them!

Fig. We Love Foto, welovephoto.pl

Therefore…. Which is more important in achieving success: talent or effort? When asked this question, Americans are almost twice as likely to say effort. However, when we look at their true attitudes, it turns out that they rate talented people higher. And that’s even when they’ve achieved the same level of success as the people who have had to work hard to earn it. Psychology professor Chia-Jung Tsay , who was the first to study this phenomenon, called it the cognitive bias of naturalness. It’s an implicit bias against people who have achieved success because they’ve worked hard for it, and an implicit preference for people who we think are in a place because they’re naturally talented. People mostly deny cognitive biases. This is not surprising. If it were otherwise, psychologists wouldn’t call them mistakes.

For years, we have been trying to understand what successful people have in common. We love talent, secretly, but it’s hard for us to admit it… To broaden our knowledge on this topic, it is worth reaching for the works of psychologists such as Angela Duckworth, Carol Dweck, Jim Flynn or Anders Ericsson. It is thanks to their work that we can consider whether achieving success depends on talent and intelligence, or rather on passion and perseverance.

King’s Day 2018 in Olivia with Goyello!

April 27 is a special day for everyone in the Netherlands as it is King Willem-Alexander’s birthday. Goyello has Dutch roots so today, as in previous years, Goyello celebrates King’s Day, too.

We can expect lots of fun today – something yummy to eat and some exercise for our brains. We are taking up the Escape Room challenge. And if you happen to see girls giving tulips to passers-by near Olivia Business Centre, take a flower and celebrate with Goyello!

Koningsdag, or King’s Day from Goyello!

Every year, on April 27, the Netherlands celebrates Koningsdag, or King’s Day. It is famous for its fairs, colourful trade stands, parades and festivals… On this day, buildings are decorated with flags, and the color is orange. The atmosphere of King’s Day, as every year, is presented in Olivia Business Centre by our Resident – Goyello. Goyello is an international IT company thatcelebrates the birthday of King Willem-Alexander every year in the Netherlands. In Olivia from the morning of April 27 you can meet beautiful hostesses with tulips:)

About King’s Day

King’s Day is a public holiday. On this day, parades and festivities are held all over the Netherlands. The streets of all cities and towns become colorful, joyful and singing. Everywhere there is a carnival, carefree atmosphere. In many places, the celebration of King’s Day begins the evening of the previous day. Open-air concerts are held on the streets, in parks and squares, and the most popular drink, next to beer, is the orange liqueur, the so-called “liqueur”. oranjebitteleje. Many locals wear orange (orange is the color of the current monarchs, and is therefore considered the national color of the Netherlands).

In addition, during King’s Day, it is possible to trade without a permit and without the need to pay taxes. The free spaces are filled with stalls, stalls and booths with a lot of products: most often with clothing, household items, homemade preserves and baked goods. Obligatory in orange. The youngest also participate in street trading, selling toys they no longer need. Such a market, also called a blanket market. It’s Kleedjesmark in Dutch.

One of the main elements of the celebration of this day is also the visit of the ruler to one of the Dutch cities. The celebration of King’s Day is celebrated not only by the Dutch, but also by foreigners, who visit the Netherlands in large numbers on this day.

Our Residents, Bayer, Amazon and PwC are the most desirable employers in 2017!

Olivia residents, Bayer and Amazon are the most desirable employers in 2017, PwC Poland with silver in the Advisory and Consulting category!

Antal has presented the results of the eighth edition of the “Most Desirable Employers” survey according to managers and specialists. It was attended by 4102 respondents from all over Polish, representatives of middle and senior staff. The respondents represented 16 voivodships and 9 professional disciplines, m.in. IT, HR, Logistics, Law, Finance and Accounting.

Our Bayer and Amazon Residents were recognized by the respondents as the best in their categories. Bayer became number one in the “Pharmaceutical Companies” category, while Amazon became number one in the “Internet, New Media, E-commerce” category. PWC Polska stood on the podium in the “Advisory and Consulting” category:)

WE ARE PROUD AND CONGRATULATE!

Since 2012, Bayer has had its financial and accounting centre in Olivia. Bayer Service Center Gdańsk serves the company’s branches from more than 20 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, m.in. from Germany, Russia, the Scandinavian and Balkan countries. In addition to accounting, teams of specialists from the Gdańsk SGC also deal with project management, graphic design and support in the area of transparency. In 2014, Amazon opened its Technology Development Center in Olivia. Specialized teams create innovative solutions for products and services that are implemented all over the world. More than 450 R&D employees are working on technologies such as the virtual voice assistant Alexa, among other things. In January 2015, Olivia Business Centre started operating a competence centre belonging to the so-called “Slovak S.A. The “Big Four” (along with Deloitte, Ernst & Young and KPMG), the international consulting firm PwC. He provides advisory services mainly to clients from the financial sector of Western Europe and the United States. We would like to remind you that PwC took first place in two prestigious rankings, the results of which were announced on 16 April. In the Ranking of Tax Firms and Advisors of Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, the highest position was awarded to PwC in the category “The Largest Tax Advisory Firm 2017”, and in the Ranking of Auditors of “Rzeczpospolita” and “Gazeta Giełdy Parkiet” in the category “The Best Audit Firm in Poland 2017”.

Do you want to know more about the study?:)

According to the respondents, in 2017 the key elements in choosing an employer were size and prestige (59% of responses) as well as management style and organizational culture of the company (51%). Only in third place was the amount of remuneration. Employees are increasingly aware of the variety of factors that predict higher standards and the quality of work itself. Although the uniqueness of the company is still at the top of the list, there is an increase in the relevance of all the survey criteria. This also applies to the basic elements of a job offer: salary or benefits. In practice, this means that employers who try to build their advantage, e.g. by offering unusually high salaries, at the expense of a bad atmosphere at work or a lack of work-life balance, will not be attractive in the eyes of employees. Conversely, an excellent reputation for a company will not tempt employees if the reputation does not go hand in hand with favorable working conditions.

Employers are becoming more and more aware of the importance of these elements, which is why it is a growing trend on the market to conduct an annual satisfaction and engagement survey, and in larger organizations with thousands of employees, to survey the pulse even once a quarter, in a selected group of employees. According to research conducted by Antal in this area, employee satisfaction affects their engagement, which in turn translates directly into customer satisfaction and loyalty. The location criterion, as in the previous year, is at the end, because in the era of remote work, when the main determinant is the result and efficiency achieved, the place of work in the physical sense is not a key factor for candidates when looking for a job. Whether an employee feels like a partner in building the business of the company in which he or she is employed will depend to a large extent on the way managers manage and their competences.

Sii engineers have adopted pumas in the Gdańsk Zoo!

Our Resident, Sii – a leader in IT and industrial engineering in Poland – adopted pumas from the Gdańsk Zoological Garden:) This is an idea that was born on the initiative of the employees of the Digital Competency Center, which implements IT projects for Sii’s international client – PUMA. It is a world-renowned sports brand, providing the most innovative products for the fastest riders in the world. Since June, the company has become the official caretaker of two pumas – Orlando and Columbia!

Why did the IT company decide to cooperate with the zoo? Joanna Murawska , Junior Java Developer at Sii, the originator of the adoption of cougars, sums up the innovative project – In this way, we decided to show that for us, cooperation with PUMA is more than just standard “work from-to” and coding. We are proud that we create such a close-knit team, carry out advanced and developmental projects for a prestigious client, with whom we strongly identify, and we can help together. It will be a great pleasure for us to look after the pumas in the zoo and take care of them – this is another area for self-fulfilment and integration for us.

The Sii project team, which is the initiator of animal adoption, is made up of 50 Sii engineers from Gdańsk and Lublin, who use various technologies in their work – from Java, through .NET, to SharePoint and Microsoft Business Intelligence technologies. Most of them are involved in a flagship technology project for PUMA called Phoenix, which concerns the construction of a product lifecycle management system. The solution supports users in the process of ordering the tools needed for shoe production, as well as allows them to track the associated investments and depreciation. With the new system, developers, designers, and product managers will be able to work on ideas from the initial concept phase through the prototype to the approved final product. The project is based on technologies such as JAVA EE, Vaadin, EJB, Hibernate, IBM DB2.

The idea of adopting pumas is a combination of the desire to help, the impulse of the heart and the commitment of our engineers to the project for our partner – says Grzegorz Brzostowski, Business Unit Media & Services Director at Sii, who is directly responsible for the long-term cooperation with the client PUMA, based in Herzogenaurach, Germany. – The Puma team from Sii is very integrated and strongly identifies with the project and the client itself. We decided to support their activities, which are in line with Sii’s CSR policy and are of particular importance to them. The decision to take care of cougars is a great combination of all these goals, which are related to both corporate social responsibility and employee satisfaction. The most important thing is the fact that, as a result, we jointly improve animal welfare and support an institution that deals with the protection of endangered species – Brzostowski explains.

Michał Targowski, director of the Gdańsk Zoological Garden, says – I’m very glad that Sii’s programmers decided to combine their work with the adoption of cougars. We are pleased that the offer of support for our wards is becoming more and more popular, both among companies and individuals. So far, lions, baby pandas, seals, lynxes, wildcats, hippos, zebras, kangaroos, donkeys, crocodiles, ararauns and black swans have been taken care of. The offer of sponsorship for the charges of the Gdańsk Zoo has been available for less than a year and during this time there have been a dozen or so people willing to support the animals. There are still more than 50 species of animals on offer, waiting for their sponsors. Our Orlando and Columbia pumas have also recently found their caretaker. Thanks to the support, our pupils receive toys, additional snacks and new paddock equipment.”

“Columbia and Orlando, cougars adopted by Sii, are a very compatible couple ,” says Anna Gembiak, carnivore keeper at the Gdańsk Zoo. – Pumas are also called mountain lions and live for about 20 years. They inhabit the Americas: from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast, and from Argentina and Chile to Alaska. Males are much larger than females, their body weight can reach up to 120 kg. Our pumas spend their time lying next to each other and basking in the sun. They are gluttons. Sometimes we even have to curb their appetites by limiting the amount of food they eat. The daily portion of meat for a male is about 1.5 kg, and for a female 1 kg. Thanks to the sponsorship, the pumas will receive additional delicacies – emphasizes Gembiak.

EXCELLENT IDEA AND I HOPE THERE ARE MORE LIKE THIS:)

At the end of the day, at 5:00 p.m., we invite you to a film screening. We will watch “The Wedding in Sorrento” directed by Susanne Bier in the Jupiter room in the O4 coworking space (Olivia Four). Gutek Film cooperates with us here!

And a few words about our film screening:)

“Wedding in Sorrento” is a romantic comedy by Academy Award winner Susanne Bier starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm. It’s an incorrigibly optimistic story about the fact that sometimes everything starts when we think it’s all over. “The Wedding in Sorrento” is genre cinema in its purest form, like “Mamma Mia!”, but with a brilliant script, as the critics wrote. The result is a bravura story with well-drawn characters, full of spicy dialogues and humour.

The film tells the story of two very different families who arrive at a beautiful villa located in a citrus orchard by the sea. The occasion for the meeting is a wedding, during which nothing goes according to plan, and at the same time everything leads to a perverse and joyful finale.

“The Wedding in Sorrento”, which acts as a warming and joy-filling balm, immediately after its release in European cinemas became the biggest box office hit in the career of the director of the Oscar-winning “In a Better World” and “Just After the Wedding”.

More on the Gutek Film website, of course!
