Cinema on Jupiter. “Happy Olo – a cheerful ballad about Olek Doba”

We cordially invite you to the Cinema on Jupiter. On November 27 at 4:30 p.m. we will watch a documentary telling the story of
about the life of one of the most outstanding Polish travelers – Aleksander Doba.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD YOUR FREE TICKET RIGHT AWAY:)

“Happy Olo” is an unusual film ballad in the convention of road cinema about one of the most outstanding Polish travelers – Aleksander Doba. It is a story full of optimism, smiles and music. The eponymous Olo tells his stories in an original and characteristic way during the journey, the goal of which is… transport of a kayak through Poland full of charm. These stories are accompanied by crazy fragments of films from his transatlantic expeditions, animations illustrating adventures interspersed with songs. Playing with conventions and imaginary characters appearing on the road show Olek’s youthful nature, despite being over seventy years old. The film is a praise of striving to make your dreams come true. Due to its positive and slightly unreal character, it is addressed to viewers of all ages.

When we meet the title character, he has already circumnavigated Lake Baikal alone, cruised from the source to the mouth of the Vistula River and two – the first successful in history – expeditions across the Atlantic (one from Africa to South America with a length of 5,394 km, the other from Europe to North America with a length of 12,427 km). And all this alone, without anyone’s help and on a small kayak propelled only by muscle power. For his incredible achievements, the readers of the National Geographic magazine awarded him the title of the traveler of the year 2015.

Who is our special hero?

Aleksander Ludwik Doba (born September 9, 1946 in Swarzędz) is a Polish explorer. He was the first man in history to kayak across the Atlantic Ocean from continent to continent using only the power of his own muscles. At the turn of 2013 and 2014, he swam alone across the widest section of the Atlantic, between the coasts of Europe and North America. In 167 days, he covered over 12 thousand kilometers. Thus, he crossed the Atlantic in a kayak for the second time. National Geographic readers appreciated his feat and thanks to an online vote he won the title of Traveler of the Year 2015. In 2016, he embarked on his third transatlantic kayak expedition from New York to Lisbon, which he was forced to interrupt due to an accident. In 2017 he intends to continue it He also kayaked around the Baltic Sea and Lake Baikal.

He is a two-time gold, silver and bronze medalist of the Open Academic Championships of Polish in mountain kayaking. He flew gliders of various types and obtained the third class of parachute jumper. He is now retired.

With his wife Gabriela, he has two sons – Bartłomiej and Czesław and two granddaughters Olga and Agata. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta Polish.

Perspectives for Gdańsk through the eyes of Andrzej Stelmasiewicz

Andrzej Stelmasiewicz, a Gdańsk councillor and founder of the Gdańsk Community, talks about the newly dealt cards, new perspectives for Gdańsk and the burning problems that politicians should face on the wave of post-election emotions.

What are your expectations for Gdańsk just after the elections?

As good as possible. I hope that such decisions of the voters will result in an even stronger development of Gdańsk, in line with the trend that has prevailed for several years. On the other hand, I must admit that the election campaign was a bit surprising.

Something special?

All the candidates for councillors and mayors spoke mainly about one thing. They focused on districts and investments that will make life easier for residents.

A new trend?

Yes, such are the times. However, I’m far from defining them as fashion. We are witnessing a historic moment in which the attention of politicians is directed towards ordinary people. The authorities do not look only at the strong group of elites, but act in accordance with the reflection that apart from active citizens, there are crowds of those who act less. Remembering that you can’t stop noticing them and their needs.

Do they want to notice if it was a campaign decoy?

I don’t know, but I have a deep faith that the declarations will be true. Paweł Adamowicz is an interesting case to analyse. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of observing how my “Chief” has changed. He learns, draws conclusions, observes this world. He is an exceptional man.

What more could you want from a Leader?

Indeed, this political dimension is extremely positive. Especially since we have to take into account the roots. The president came out of a conservative-Christian position, but also from a pro-independence one, in the context of the social revolution that is taking place. What is important and praiseworthy is the pursuit of change, and this is quite rare in politicians, their transformations tend to be rather incidental. That is why I strongly believe that this is not an electoral sausage and Paweł Adamowicz will actually keep them by declaring contracts for districts.

Only districts?

I am sure that large investments in the city will take place in parallel. If Gdańsk is to develop, it must be done in a sustainable way. However, I am not overusing this word in the currently fashionable interpretation.

Which one, then?

Common sense. Investments large and small are needed. Hard and soft.

What do they mean for Oliwa?

This district is the closest to me, although I was elected in constituency number 6 and I feel that I represent the inhabitants of Jelitkowo, Żabianka, Oliwa, Osowa, Matarnia and Kokoszki. And, as a city councillor, I am responsible to all Gdańsk residents.

Will there be a chance for a new version of Spacerowa Street?

That’s what I’ve got on my banner. I can’t promise to clear it. I don’t think anyone knows how to do it today.

What’s the problem?

The problem is not Spacerowa itself. Every case has its bottleneck. If we turn Spacerowa into a seven-lane highway and don’t change the bridge at the Mill, it won’t do us any good. I talk to all kinds of people and everyone has an idea. Usually, it is a proposal to clear one street. So what, if it will automatically block the next one. That’s why I’m planning to make a round table.

Will history come full circle?

The aim is to bring together road construction and public transport professionals, activists, pedestrians and residents. There is no point in talking about making Spacerowa more accessible, but about improving the communication system in Stara Oliwa and Nowa Oliwa.

Does the upcoming “new” mean that the local community will feel more cared for by politicians?

It all depends on the councillors they have chosen. In my understanding, a councillor should act on two fronts. On the one hand, he must be active in the City Council. The second thing is to be in frequent contact with voters. Without talking, without being among the residents, he will not know what the inhabitants consider to be valuable. It’s not easy. There are as many ideas as there are people, and the conversation allows you to balance certain things. Decisions should be made when we find a common denominator, assuming that such a compromise will be acceptable to everyone.

Andrzej Stelmasiewicz was a participant of the debate of local government representatives “Gdańsk after the elections. What Will Be Left of the Promises?” organized in Olivia by the Jagiellonian Club. They discussed, m.in, what will be the next five years of Gdańsk self-government, what is the role of self-government in Poland 2018-2023 and whether it must be subordinated to national policy. The conversation was also attended by Anna Golędzinowska, Gdańsk City Councillor (Civic Coalition), Jolanta Banach (Better Gdańsk), Andrzej Skiba (Law and Justice).

Winter Formula 1 in OBC. It was power!

Until 5 October, a (real!) winter Formula 1 car was parked near Olivia. And until that day, you could take part in a contest for a “fireball selfie”. The award ceremony took place last Friday during an absolutely unique event! On the patio of Olivia Business Centre… bobsleigh track. Winter sports enthusiasts were also awaited by the athletes of the National Bobsleigh Team: Jakub Zakrzewski and Paweł Sarnecki. The gentlemen signed autographs (of course), revealed the secrets of training and talked – with great passion – about Winter Formula 1. It was possible to personally check how to control a car weighing over 300 kilograms and take part in the racing competition. There was no shortage of daredevils.

The first 3 places were taken by:

Totals: 00:3,26 (I place)

Garlic Team: 00:03,42 (II place)

Dziubasy: 00:3,43 (III place)

And here are twelve great ones;) The fastest and the bravest (the ladies setting the pace for the car from Lejdis) was something!

Congratulations!

We would like to thank our partners: Polish Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association, Energa and Starbucks Poland:)

Cinema on Jupiter. October 18: “The Best”

Cinema on Jupiter! Autumn… When the sun is a little less, when the evenings are longer, when we feel like a warm blanket, tea with ginger and a good movie…

Exactly… During Summer on the Patio, you told us that the cinema in Olivia is it! And the mini-cinema starts for you in October. You will be able to come here right after work, with friends and acquaintances, invite Grandma and Aunt Zosia (free team). We are also planning film cycles, brainstorming on how to make our mini-cinema “cosy”;)

We thought that you would be interested in films about passions, exceeding one’s own capabilities, believing that when we want, we can really do a lot… And here it is! Premiere at the Jupiter Cinema – ” The Best” directed by Łukasz Palkowski. Starring m.in. Jakub Gierszał, Arkadiusz Jakubik, Janusz Gajos, Kamila Kamińska, Anna Próchniak and Adam Woronowicz. See you on October 18th at 4:30 pm!:)

We will quote here an excerpt from Jędrzej Dutkiewicz’s review: Poles can also make films like Americans. Do you remember “Gods”, which tells the story of Zbigniew Religa? The creator of this work, Łukasz Palkowski, decided to prove that the huge success was not a coincidence. a he himself – like probably no one else in his home environment – has a perfect feel for Hollywood and knows how to model himself on it. This is how “The Best” was created. The film is a biography of Jerzy Górski. This is a character that many people have probably never heard of. In his youth, he was a drug addict, he had a brush with death more than once or twice. In the end, however, he decided to seek treatment. That’s how he came under the wings of Marek Kotański, a famous therapist who helps people recover from addictions. Górski’s new goal was to return to the sport he had abandoned after his childhood. He decided to try his hand at one of the most demanding competitions, triathlon. (…). The best is, as you can easily guess, a typical representative of the “from zero to hero” cinema. While in Palkowski’s Gods he was primarily interested in the protagonist’s struggle with his environment, and more specifically with the communist system in which he had to operate, in Górski’s Best Enemy is primarily himself. No matter where he is, he has to fight his weaknesses, he realizes that if he lets go even for a millimeter, he can go down again in the blink of an eye. Palkowski shows how incredible strength lies dormant in a human being, which basically each of us is capable of, if only we have motivation and a bit of support. Górski got a lot of help, from Ewa, who worked in the hospital, to the facility run by Kotański. He was able to take advantage of it, proving that it is possible to survive any oppression. And here is the trailer of the premiere film in “Cinema on Jupiter”. Of course, c.d.n.

International Airline Conference at OBC

Under the wings of innovative solutions, the annual ARINC 424 NDB conference has come to an end. For three days at the Olivia Sky Club, a group of world aviation experts worked on the development of navigation data in the ARINC 424 standard.

“The meeting was attended by representatives of companies such as: Boeing, Airbus, Leonardo Helicopters, General Electric, Garmin, Rockwell Collins, Honeywell, LSY, NavBlue, Thales, Elbit and others. It is worth noting that ARINC 424 NDB has gathered in Poland for the first time in history. It is a great promotion in the aviation world for the Polish branch of Jeppesen, Olivia Business Centre, as well as the city of Gdańsk itself” – explained Szymon Trąbała from Jeppesen Poland Sp.z.o.o

The event was opened by Rafał Stepnowski, President of Jeppesen Poland. The previous one was held in Phoenix, Arizona.

Great Charity Auction in Olivia

On Friday, 19 October, Olivia Sky Club, for the sixth time, hosted an annual auction for the wards of the Between Heaven and Earth Foundation, who are seriously ill children. The ceremony began a series of auctions that are organized every year in four cities in Poland – Gdańsk, Krakow, Wrocław and Warsaw. Their originator is the founder and President of the Foundation – attorney-at-law. Sylwia Zarzycka, who gathers the Polish legal and business community around the Foundation.

The evening at Olivia Business Cnetre was traditionally hosted by Marcin Żebrowski, with great commitment, and was graced by a violin and cello performance performed by Maria Sławek and Małgorzata Kuziemska-Sławek. The auction was attended by lawyers and businessmen from the Tri-City, who bid for the benefit of the Foundation’s charges from the Tri-City and the surrounding area.

The following were sold for the highest price:

  • Kinga Burzyńska’s book “Film School. Conversations” with the autograph of actress Joanna Kulig – PLN 12,500.00;
  • interview and professional photo session for the Tri-City magazine “PRESTIGE” – PLN 12,000.00;
  • a ride on the race track in the passenger seat of a NISSAN GT-R in the NISMO version – PLN 10,000.00.

During the auction, the Foundation also presented its new film, which left its participants with a lot of emotions.

The celebrations of the Between Heaven and Earth Foundation are always a great experience, they take place in a very friendly atmosphere, and each person who becomes the winner of the auction has a sense of great sense of the support they are giving in this way.

“I am very happy that for the sixth time our Foundation could be hosted at Olivia Business Centre and I would like to thank in particular President Maciej Grabski for this. It is important to us that we have a permanent place in Gdańsk and that we can meet every year to support our pupils. Thanks to such initiatives, we can help very effectively; We cover the costs of rehabilitation and rehabilitation stays, the costs of medical supplies, medical equipment, medicines and care. We make it possible for our children of the Foundation to live with dignity.” – says Sylwia Zarzycka.

Olivia Prime as the best office project in Central and Eastern Europe

EuropaProperty CEE Investment Awards handed out. Olivia Prime of the Olivia Business Centre in Gdańsk wins the main prize of the EuropaProperty CEE Investment Awards in the “Office Project” category.

The eighth annual gala of the EuropaProperty CEE Investment Awards gathered in Warsaw Central and Eastern Europe’s leaders in the real estate investment industry. The most important event
in the region is dedicated to top investments and sustainable development opportunities.

Olivia Prime was designed in the spirit of biophilic design. This novelty means that the building is friendly to employees, and the architectural and functional solutions used in it are conducive to ensuring a balance between the moments of intense work during the day and moments of rest and relaxation that are so important to us. On each floor there are “green” loggias, terraces and external galleries. Olivia Prime also provides five additional terraces on the roofs of two cores of the building. Terraces and galleries have various functions: some are dedicated to relaxation, on warm days the largest one will serve the guests of the spacious restaurant on the first floor, and the highest is a viewing terrace. The design of the building is based on natural materials and vegetation; vegetation is also planned on parts of the façade. An additional patio, a green square with landscape architecture, cafes and restaurants will be built next to the building.

– Olivia Prime is the first building in Poland with terraces, loggias and galleries available to tenants and their guests. Everything is to serve one purpose: rising the employee satisfaction. Facilities for tenants will also include a spacious restaurant with an area of approximately 1200 sq m, with a large terrace where meals can also be served – explains Maciej Kotarski, rental director at the Olivia Business Centre.

Prime’s designers took care of the thermal comfort of its users. It is provided, among other things, by the use of a modern triple-glazed façade, which significantly reduces the impact of external conditions on the temperature in offices, minimising the need to cool rooms in the summer and heat them in the winter. This translates into convenience of use and, at the same time, reducing energy demand, and hence, reducing operation costs. Opening windows are a matter of course in Olivia.

What’s more, Olivia Prime is a two-core building. Prime A, commissioned for use in August, will be combined by means of a green connector with the currently erected Prime B office building. Investors will be provided with an office space reaching nearly 4,000 sq m on one floor.
