“Narratology” takes you on a fascinating journey into the world of stories. We will begin with the inside of your head… You will find out why tales have so much impact on you and other people. Where do they come from? What purpose do they serve? When do they affect better and when do they affect worse? Why do they work at all? You will also find out how to structure the ones which have bigger influence on your listeners, than other stories.
Stories have their own rights, which influence the way people react to a particular narration. Do you want to get to know them?
What about a form? Today’s stories by the fireside may scare only children (and even not all of them). Thanks to technology we have new and unheard-of forms of narration, which arouse more emotions than a typical film in a cinema. Do you want to find out where stories are heading?
Time and place: 19th of May 2017, 5:00 pm, Olivia Sky Club, Olivia Business Centre
The meeting will be led by Monika Bogdanowicz (Olivia Business Centre)
Admission is free, however due to the limited number of seats please register via e-mail: events@oliviacentre.com
The author of “Narratologia” introduces himself in the following way:
“Hi, my name is Paweł Tkaczyk and I earn my living telling stories. I would like to describe to you how you buy different things. Sometimes, like in the case of milk, you may just want to buy something that you can pour into a cup of coffee or a bowl with cereals. But when you stand in front of a store shelf, on which there are ten or twenty types of milk, which one will you choose? What happens in your head a moment before you reach for a certain carton or bottle? When you can choose from ten products, which are actually the same (one carton of milk doesn’t differ from another one), they cost more or less the same and are equally accessible (eventually they all stand in front of you on a shelf), you stop thinking about the product itself and start thinking about its story. Advertisers noticed it a long time ago and instead of encouraging you to buy milk, they tell you about how happy the cows who provide this milk are.
Imagine that someone has offered you a job in a new company. What do you do to help yourself make a decision? You look for a company’s history.
How do you choose a book? You judge it by its cover, friends’ opinions or author’s reputation…
Each of these forms is a mini-story. And I build strong brands professionally. Stories became my natural companion and later on an indispensable element of my work.
I started to explore them and found out a lot…”
The meeting will be held in Polish language.
