On April 7, the Fields of Hope in Pomerania. We help hospices!
What’s going on?
The aim of the campaign is to raise money for hospice patients and to draw attention to the idea of hospice care. The first Fields of Hope bloomed in Edinburgh, Scotland, organized by the Marie Curie Cancer Care Foundation. From there, the custom of donating daffodils to people who joined the collection came to us.
The Fields of Hope in Pomerania, i.e. the Great Fundraiser and the Daffodil Relay Race, along with accompanying events, allow you to raise funds for: Hospice for Children and Adults Ks. E. Dutkiewicz SAC in Gdansk, Pomerania for Children Hospice, Caritas Hospice House. St. St. Joseph’s Church in Sopot, the Hospice Association st. St. Faustina in Sopot, St. Faustina Hospice St. Lawrence in Gdynia, together with the “Amber Haven” Children’s Hospice Home and the Puck Hospice of St. Padre Pio.
The fundraiser, organized every spring, allows hospices to finance care for adults and children who need round-the-clock, professional support. The word hospice derives from the Latin words hospes – “guest” and hospitium – “hospitality”. Hospice teams respond to the medical, but also ordinary, human needs of patients: closeness, conversation. In their mission, they are guided by the slogan “Hospice is also Life”.

History
The first Fields of Hope bloomed in Edinburgh, Scotland, organized by the Marie Curie Cancer Care Foundation. From there, the custom of donating daffodils to people who joined the collection came to us. The daffodil in this tradition symbolizes the triumph of sacrifice over selfishness, love over death. Every year at the beginning of October, around the International Day of Palliative and Hospice Care, people all over the world plant daffodils in front of schools, hospitals, offices, parks and squares. In spring, when they are in bloom, hospice centers organize a large fundraiser for their patients. Dressed in yellow, volunteers hand them over to donors in exchange for a donation to the can. The Polish history of the Fields of Hope began 18 years ago in Krakow, thanks to the Hospice of St. Paul. Lazarus. In 2003, the campaign took on a nationwide character and is organized in dozens of cities.
The Great Fundraiser and the Daffodil Relay for Pomeranian Hospices
The events in Puck, Gdynia, Sopot, Gdańsk and the surrounding area will be accompanied by a fundraiser for hospice patients. Volunteers in yellow T-shirts will collect money on the streets, squares, squares and churches. For a donation to the piggy bank, they will give daffodils. Thank you for every gesture of support!
