People with disabilities in the work environment. Passion. Knowledge. Strength

“The Do forceBroci”. Caritas meetings in Olivia.

On Tuesday afternoon, 27 February, in Olivia Sky Club, it was possible to meet with people with disabilities, charges of Caritas in Gdańsk and employees – therapists. This is the second in a series of events, under the telling slogan, “The Power of Goodness”, which was initiated and organized by Caritas of the Archdiocese of Gdańsk. Olivia Business Centre is open to cooperation with many communities, tries to engage in projects aimed at integrating people, exchanging ideas, promoting pro-social attitudes, supporting initiatives dedicated to m.in. activation, hence the m.in. cooperation with Caritas in Gdańsk.

The special guest of the meeting was Paweł Jaworski – the owner of the “MORPAK” company, the founder of the “Stara Papiernia” Association. The entrepreneur employs people with disabilities, so he shared his experiences from everyday cooperation and the emotions that accompany it. He repeatedly emphasized that it is enough to skillfully use the knowledge and abilities of a disabled person to gain an expert in their field. On the other hand, Marta Gosłowska-Mironowicz from the Integralia Foundation, Employment agency with several years of experience in the professional activation of people with disabilities gave the audience specific tips on how to employ a disabled person.

Beata Kozłowska, a therapist from the University of Warsaw, talked about the methods of work in the Occupational Therapy Workshop (WTZ), and in particular about “art therapy”. Caritas Rehabilitation Center st. Stanislaw Kostka. In Olivia, we could see for ourselves how real works of art are created (they could be seen and bought at stands prepared by employees, volunteers and charges of Caritas). It was also possible to work independently in a saddlery or ceramics workshop and learn the details of the so-called The “Cracow Method”, used in teaching reading at the Rehabilitation-Educational-Educational Center in Trąbki Wielkie.

There was also an artistic part. m.in revealed his talents to us. Łukasz Kalisz – actor, dancer, protégé of WTZ in Gdynia. The pupils of WTZ also performed in genre scenes, they also presented four workshop stations at which they work every day – a weaving, saddlery, ceramics and wickerwork workshop. The event was graced by a photo exhibition – “Disabled Caritas”.

The meeting ended with refreshments and conversations.

“Our pupils were very impressed by the place where the meeting took place. Admiration for the architecture and décor was mixed with fear. “I’ve never been on the 12th floor in a glass room,” I was told. I could see the delight in their eyes as they approached the window-wall with a little trepidation and admired the beautiful views. It was a time that showed the enormous strength of daboutbra, and the friendliness of the employees of Olivia Business Centre makes us feel at home there. We would especially like to thank Mrs. Monika Bogdanowicz and Katarzyna Halicka from Olivia for the great attention and care that we receive from you. – said Marta Szulc, Secretary of the Board of CARITAS of the Archdiocese of Gdańsk.

WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR THE SEA OF INSPIRATION:)

The next meeting will take place on March 20 at 5.30 p.m. at Olivia Sky Club. The space will be filled with children – children from day-care centres and the Single Mother’s Home in Matemblewo. See you!
